Becoming A Family With The Duke And His Son

Okay, so you know how life throws you curveballs? Like, you’re just casually sipping your latte, thinking about whether to finally binge-watch that show everyone’s been raving about, and BAM! You're suddenly, unexpectedly…part of a royal family. Wild, right?

Let me back up a bit. So, there I was, totally content with my perfectly ordinary existence. And then I met him. You know, the Duke. Yeah, that Duke. The one who makes headlines just by, like, existing. (Seriously, how does one manage that?)

And, of course, there's his son. Little Prince Charming, Junior Edition. Okay, maybe not that little, but definitely brimming with enough royal potential to make my head spin. Did I ever imagine myself playing board games with a future king? Absolutely not. Did I secretly practice my curtsey in the mirror afterwards? Maybe. Don’t judge!

Now, you're probably thinking, "Wait, how does that even happen?" And honestly? I’m still trying to figure that out myself! But let’s just say it involved a charity auction, a particularly witty (if I do say so myself) remark, and maybe, just maybe, a teensy bit of fate. Or, you know, really good luck. Take your pick.

The initial weeks were…interesting, to say the least. Picture this: me, struggling to remember which fork is for what (seriously, who invented so many forks?), while trying not to spill tea on the Duchess's priceless Persian rug. It was a crash course in royal etiquette, let me tell you. Did I accidentally call the butler "Dude" once? Possibly. Did I want the ground to swallow me whole? Definitely.

But here's the thing, beneath all the tiaras and fancy dinners, they're just…people. Real people. The Duke, despite his regal bearing, has a surprisingly goofy sense of humor. And his son? Well, he's just a kid. A kid who loves video games, making silly faces, and asking a million questions. (Sound familiar?)

I baked my famous chocolate chip cookies for the Duke (he loved them!), I helped his son with his math homework (okay, maybe I needed a little help myself), and I even managed to teach the Duchess a new TikTok dance (don't ask!).

It’s about love, acceptance, and a whole lot of laughter. Who knew a chance encounter could lead to such an incredible adventure? It is crazy and wonderful and scary (at times!) all at once.

So, what's it like being part of a royal family? Well, it's definitely not boring! It’s about finding your place, embracing the unexpected, and realizing that family isn’t always about blood, but about the people who make your heart feel full. Are there days I want to hide under the covers and never face another formal dinner? Absolutely. But then the Duke cracks a joke, his son gives me a hug, and I remember…I wouldn’t trade this for anything. Not even a lifetime supply of fancy forks.
