Destiny 2 Riding The Storm Quest

Destiny 2 Riding The Storm Quest

Alright, gather 'round, Guardians, because I'm about to tell you a tale. A tale of wizards, quests, and my eternal struggle to remember which button reloads my darn auto rifle. We’re talking about the "Riding the Storm" quest in Destiny 2. Buckle up, because it's a wild one. Think of it as that time you tried to assemble IKEA furniture after accidentally drinking a whole Red Bull. Expect a bit of confusion, a lot of hammering, and maybe a few missing pieces, but you'll get there… eventually.

So, What's This "Riding the Storm" All About?

Basically, "Riding the Storm" is the quest that finally gets you the Tempest Spire, a shiny new Exotic Warlock helmet. And let me tell you, as someone who spends more time admiring their Guardian's fashion sense than actually shooting aliens (don't judge me!), this helmet is a look. It's all floaty bits and electric glowy things – perfect for completing your space wizard aesthetic. The flavor text says the Spire enhances Arc ability uptime. I'm thinking it's also gonna enhance my ability to get complimented at the Tower. Priorities, people!

But before you can become the most electrifying person in the solar system, you gotta, you know, actually do the quest. And that’s where the fun (read: mild frustration) begins.

Step 1: Embrace the Spark (of Inconvenience)

First off, you gotta kick this whole shebang off. How, you ask? Well, you've probably already done it without realizing. "Riding the Storm" is automatically granted upon completing the Lightfall campaign, and reaching the quest step for the Parting the Veil quest. So, if you've been busy saving the world (or, let's be honest, busy farming Glimmer), congrats! You're already halfway there. Pat yourself on the back. Treat yourself to a Ghost Shell that looks like a tiny dinosaur. You deserve it.

Step 2: Nimbus Needs a Favor (Surprise!)

Remember Nimbus? That Cloud Strider who sounds perpetually surprised by everything? Yeah, well, he needs your help. Shocker. Head on over to Neomuna and have a chat. He'll give you the lowdown, which, as usual, involves shooting things. Specific things, in specific ways. But hey, at least you get to admire the pretty, vaguely cyberpunk cityscape of Neomuna while you’re at it.

Step 3: The "Thrilladrome" of Destruction

Here's where things get a bit… explosively fun. Nimbus tasks you with completing Terminal Overload events in specific areas of Neomuna that change on a daily rotation. So, if you're like me and only play Destiny 2 on Tuesdays because that’s when the laundry piles up the least, well, you might have to wait a bit. Don't worry, think of it as a mini-vacation... a vacation where you're violently eliminating hordes of enemies for robot-man.

Here's what you'll be up to:

  • Eliminating Vex: Because, duh, it's a Tuesday in Destiny.
  • Gathering Key Fragments: Think of them as pieces of the puzzle... a puzzle made of lasers and explosions.
  • Completing the Terminal Overload: This part is a public event, so bring some friends (or random strangers who are equally frustrated).

You need to do this until you’ve collected enough Key Fragments and can forge a Terminal Overload Key. Once you’ve got that, use the key to open the final chest in Terminal Overload for a chance to get a Cloud Accretion. You'll need two of these bad boys. Then, it’s back to Nimbus!

Step 4: The Veil Containment Dance

Oh boy, it's time for a Veil Containment run. But not just any run, it has to be tier 3 or higher. These are weekly missions accessible from the Neomuna map, and have a rotation like the Terminal Overload zones. These missions often feature modifiers that change the whole flow of gameplay, like, "All enemies are now exploding chickens!" (Okay, that's an exaggeration. Mostly.) The point is to go in, complete the mission, and then high-tail it back to Nimbus.

Step 5: It's Reading Time!

Now, it's time for an actual quest step and not just mindless shooting. Nimbus wants you to sit your butt down and read through the "Report: RE: Clovis Bray and the Veil." I know, I know, reading is for nerds. But trust me, the lore is actually pretty cool, and it gives you some context for why you're spending your valuable time shooting aliens. Just think of it as homework you can complete while still wearing your pajamas. Head to the Landmark tab in your quest log, then read the lore book. And yes, that’s all!

Step 6: A Little More Slaying (Because of Course)

Did you think you were done with the slaying? Please. This is Destiny. Now it’s time to take out combatants in Neomuna with Arc damage. It’s 200 combatants, so it’s not too bad, but, you know, it’s a quest. Just load up your favorite Arc subclass, head to the Vex Incursion Zone, and go wild. If you are looking to expedite the arc kills, I suggest taking the Fallen Walker public event, and getting those multi-kills! You’ll be done in no time.

Step 7: The Final Countdown (To Fashion)

Finally, after all the shooting, reading, and Nimbus-related shenanigans, you get to claim your prize. Head back to Nimbus one last time (probably… you know how these things go) and he'll reward you with the Tempest Spire. Hallelujah!

The Tempest Spire: Is It Worth The Effort?

Well, that depends. Do you like looking ridiculously cool? Do you enjoy having more uptime on your Arc abilities? Do you revel in the envious stares of other Warlocks as you strut your stuff through the Tower? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then absolutely. The Tempest Spire is a fantastic Exotic that can significantly enhance your Arc Warlock build, allowing you to unleash a torrent of electricity upon your enemies. I find myself almost constantly in the amplified state. It’s great in PVE content.

Now, go forth, Guardians, and ride that storm! Just try not to electrocute yourself. And maybe invest in a good pair of noise-canceling headphones. Nimbus can get a little… loud.

Pro-Tip: Don’t forget to periodically take breaks and maybe grab a snack. Questing on an empty stomach is a recipe for disaster (and potential controller-throwing incidents).

Fun Fact: Did you know that the concept of a Warlock who controls elemental forces dates back to ancient mythology? Okay, maybe I made that up. But it sounds cool, right?
