Elden Ring How To Get Back To Grafted Scion

Elden Ring How To Get Back To Grafted Scion

Okay, so picture this: I'm brand new to Elden Ring, right? I'd heard the legends, the tales of incredible difficulty. I was ready. I even picked a cool-sounding class (Prisoner, because edgy). Then, BAM! First boss fight: Grafted Scion. He absolutely wrecked me. Like, humiliated me. I barely scratched him before he turned me into Elden Paste. I respawned, dazed and confused, thinking "Okay, where's the rematch?" Except... I was somewhere totally different. I spent the next hour wandering around, convinced I'd broken the game somehow, mumbling to myself, "How do I get back to that jerk?!"

Turns out, I wasn't alone in my befuddlement. This is a common Elden Ring experience, folks! So, let's talk about how to actually return to the Grafted Scion's arena after your initial… let's call it a learning experience.

Understanding the Elden Ring "Tutorial"

The Grafted Scion fight is essentially the game's brutal way of saying, "Welcome to the Lands Between, you're gonna die. A lot." It's a scripted loss, meant to kick you off the cliff (literally!) and into the starting area, the Cave of Knowledge.

Think of it as a very, very tough tutorial. You're supposed to lose. Don't feel bad about it. We've all been there. Seriously. Every single one of us. (Except maybe those speedrunners. They're probably aliens.)

Reaching the Chapel of Anticipation (Where the Scion Awaits)

So, how do you get back to the scene of the crime? The answer lies in something called the Four Belfries. This is a location in the Liurnia of the Lakes region.

First things first: you need to make your way to Liurnia. You can do this by either following the main path from Stormveil Castle (beating Margit and Godrick, which is a whole other adventure) or by taking a sneaky side path around the castle through the broken bridge on the east side (look for the ravine with the spiritspring jump). Either way, you'll eventually find yourself in the beautiful, sprawling lake region.

Once you're in Liurnia, head to the western part of the region. You'll find the Four Belfries perched on a cliff overlooking the lake. It's hard to miss – there are, unsurprisingly, four very tall belfries.

The Imbued Sword Key

Here’s the key (pun intended!). Each belfry has a message at its base indicating where it leads. One of them says something cryptic like "Precipice of the Chapel of Anticipation." That's the one you want. But to activate it, you need an Imbued Sword Key.

Now, there are actually three imbued sword keys in the game, but the easiest one to grab early is located near the very top of the Four Belfries itself. Look around carefully! It's usually inside a chest. (Why they put the key near the portal instead of in the portal, I'll never know. Elden Ring logic.)

With the Imbued Sword Key in your possession, activate the belfry with the "Precipice" message. This will teleport you back to the very beginning of the game, to the arena where you faced (and likely lost to) the Grafted Scion.

The Rematch (Optional)

Now, here’s the catch. The Grafted Scion is now there for you to fight again. However, fighting him again is completely optional. He's significantly harder than when you first encountered him (because, you know, you're not a level 1 newbie anymore, but he's still a pain). If you manage to defeat him, you'll get some decent early-game equipment, but if you're not ready, don't sweat it. You can always come back later when you're stronger.

The real reason to return is for the other loot in the Chapel of Anticipation. There's a weapon and a shield that are quite useful early on. And, of course, for the satisfaction of revisiting the place where your Elden Ring journey truly began, a place that marked your first (of many) deaths.

So, there you have it! Go forth, Tarnished, and reclaim your dignity (or just grab the loot and run. No judgment here.) Good luck, and may the Erdtree be with you!
