Falling For A Dying Princess Ch 1

Okay, so you know how we always say, "Don't judge a book by its cover"? Yeah, well, I totally judged this book by its cover. And the title. "Falling For a Dying Princess, Chapter 1." Talk about melodramatic, right? But hey, curiosity got the better of me. And you know what? I'm kinda glad it did.
First off, let's meet our main guy, Ethan. He's, like, super average. Average job, average apartment, probably average dating life. You know, the kind of guy you wouldn't look twice at on the street (sorry, Ethan!). But that's kind of the point, isn't it? Makes him relatable. Though, spoiler alert, his life is about to get a whole lot less average.
The Meet-Cute (Or, Well, Sort Of)
So, how does Ethan meet our "dying princess," aka Princess Aurelia? It's not some grand ball or a chance encounter in a fancy European cafe, sadly. Nope. It's at a… wait for it… charity auction. I know, riveting stuff. But here's the kicker: Ethan's only there because his boss strong-armed him into attending. Apparently, showing up means brownie points. Brownie points! Is that even still a thing?
Must Read
Aurelia, naturally, is the guest of honor. She's there to raise money for her ahem "rare and debilitating illness." I'm using air quotes because, let's be honest, "rare and debilitating illness" is practically a trope at this point. But still, the author does a pretty good job of making you feel for her. She's described as breathtakingly beautiful, but also frail and… well, doomed.
Ethan, being the average guy that he is, mostly just wants to get the evening over with. He’s eyeing the open bar (priorities, right?) when BAM! Their eyes meet. Across a crowded room, of course. Cue dramatic music… or maybe just the clinking of champagne glasses.

The First Impression (Awkward!)
Okay, so this isn’t exactly a fairytale first encounter. Ethan trips. He trips, spills his drink (red wine, naturally) all over Aurelia's ridiculously expensive dress, and basically makes a fool of himself in front of royalty. Gold star, Ethan!
Now, any normal princess would probably have security drag him away. But Aurelia? She laughs. Like, a genuine, bell-like laugh that apparently charms the socks off everyone in a five-mile radius. Including Ethan. Is it the laughter? The impending doom? Who knows! But something clicks.

After the initial awkwardness, they actually have a conversation. It's surprisingly normal, considering one of them is royalty and the other is… Ethan. They talk about… books. Yeah, books. See? Totally normal. Except not. Because Aurelia keeps coughing. And Ethan keeps staring at her with this “deer in headlights” look.
The Hook (And We’re Officially Invested)
The chapter ends with Aurelia making Ethan a proposition. A weird proposition. She asks him to… spend time with her. Basically, to be her friend. But not just any friend. Like, a "help me experience life before I kick the bucket" kind of friend. Whoa, right?

Ethan, of course, is completely flustered. He doesn't know what to say. He's just met this incredibly beautiful, incredibly dying princess, and she's asking him to be her… adventure buddy? What would you do?! Seriously, tell me in the comments!
And that's where Chapter 1 ends! Leaving us hanging! Ugh. Now I have to read Chapter 2, right? Did Ethan say yes? What kind of adventures are they going to go on? Will I actually start crying over a fictional dying princess? Only time will tell. Stay tuned for my next recap!
My initial thoughts? It's cheesy, yes. Predictable, maybe. But there's something undeniably charming about it. And hey, sometimes we all need a little escapism, right? Even if it involves a dying princess.
