These guys are basically the underdogs of the martial arts world, and not the cool, rebellious kind of underdogs. More like the "we're bad at being evil" kind of underdogs. Think Team Rocket, but with more internal strife and less catchy theme music.

The scene is set. Our hapless protagonist, ripped from his boring life, is now expected to lead these… ahem… highly skilled martial artists back to glory. He's the only one who can activate some kind of ancient seal or something, thanks to the jade pendant. So, no pressure, right?
