How To Make The Master Sword Glow

Okay, so you wanna make the Master Sword glow, huh? Awesome! Who wouldn't? It’s, like, the ultimate weapon against evil and a pretty sweet nightlight. First things first, let’s be real – we're not actually forging a mystical blade. We're gonna get crafty. And maybe a little nerdy. Embrace it!
Think of this as a DIY project, a cosplay prop, or just a fun way to spend an afternoon. Don’t expect to be slicing through Calamity Ganon afterwards. (Unless you have a really good imagination.)
Option 1: The LED Route - Shiny & Techy
This is probably the most common way to get that glorious glow. Why? Because LEDs are amazing! Plus, you can control the brightness. Pro-tip: Don't blind yourself. Seriously.
Must Read
What you'll need:
- A Master Sword prop (duh!). You can buy one online, 3D print one, or even make one out of cardboard. Go wild!
- LED strip lights (preferably battery-powered). Blue or white are the go-to colors. Unless you want an evil Master Sword...in that case, red!
- A drill (or a VERY sharp pointy thing. Be careful!).
- Some clear acrylic or plastic. This will diffuse the light and make it look less like Christmas lights and more like...well, the Master Sword.
- Hot glue or super glue. Because everything is better with glue!
How to do it:
Carefully drill a channel down the center of your sword prop. You know, where the blade-y part is. Make sure it's wide enough to fit your LED strip. Not too wide though, we don't want it falling apart.

Cut the acrylic to fit inside the channel. This will act as a diffuser. Sand it down a bit to make it more translucent if you want that dreamy, soft glow. Don't skip this step!
Attach the LED strip to the acrylic using glue. Make sure the LEDs are facing outwards, towards the acrylic. It doesn't have to be perfect, just secure.
Carefully slide the acrylic/LED combo into the channel you drilled. This might be tricky, so take your time. Don't force it!

Seal everything up with more glue. Now you have a glowing Master Sword! How cool is that?
Option 2: The Glow-in-the-Dark Paint - Simple & Magical (Sort Of)
Okay, so this won't be as bright as the LED version, but it's way easier and cheaper. Plus, it has a certain…charm? (We’re being generous here.)
What you'll need:
- Master Sword prop (again, obviously!).
- Glow-in-the-dark paint. The good stuff. Read the reviews.
- A paintbrush. Or a sponge. Or your fingers, if you’re feeling adventurous.
- A sealant. To protect your masterpiece.
How to do it:

Apply several coats of glow-in-the-dark paint to the blade of your sword. Let each coat dry completely before applying the next. Patience, young Padawan!
Once the paint is dry, apply a sealant to protect it. This will also help the glow last longer. Nobody wants a sword that only glows for five minutes.
Charge your sword under a bright light for a few minutes. Then, turn off the lights and bask in its…well, its faint glow. Hey, you tried!

Things to Keep in Mind:
Safety first! Be careful when using tools, especially sharp ones. We don't want any Link-related injuries.
Experiment! Try different colors of LEDs or glow-in-the-dark paint. Who knows, maybe you'll discover a new and improved Master Sword design.
Have fun! This is supposed to be a creative and enjoyable project. Don't stress out too much about making it perfect.
So there you have it! Two ways to make your Master Sword glow. Which will you choose? Maybe both? Whatever you decide, may the Triforce be with you!
