I Became The Knight That The Princesses Are Obsessed With

Okay, so, you're not gonna believe this. I stumbled into the most ridiculous situation. Picture this: me, Sir... well, let's just say "Me," the Knight. And a whole bunch of princesses. Like, a lot of princesses.

How did it happen? Honestly, I'm still trying to figure that out. One minute I'm polishing my (slightly rusty) armor, the next I'm rescuing Princess Petunia from a particularly grumpy badger. You know, just your average Tuesday.

But then... things got weird.

See, I wasn't expecting a thank you. Maybe a polite nod? Possibly a slice of the celebratory cake? But a love letter? Addressed to me? From Princess Petunia? Okay, maybe it was a fluke. Right?

Wrong.

The next day, Princess Beatrice – who, I should mention, I’d helped get her kite out of a tree (heroic, I know) – sends me a sonnet. A sonnet! About my "dazzling heroism" and my "chiseled jawline." (I mean, I do try to keep my helmet polished, but still!).

And then it just… snowballed. Suddenly, every princess in the kingdom (and possibly a few from neighboring kingdoms, I wouldn’t be surprised) was sending me flowers, poems, baked goods, and elaborate marriage proposals. Did I mention the marriage proposals? Yeah, those are a thing.

I'm talking Princess Aurora (the one who slept for a hundred years!), Princess Clementine (obsessed with oranges, naturally), Princess Zephyr (apparently has a thing for knights who are good with horses – which, okay, I’m decent). The list goes on. Believe me, I've started a spreadsheet. It's terrifying.

Honestly, I'm no Prince Charming. I'm more like... Prince Charm-adjacent. My socks rarely match. My jokes are questionable at best. And I'm pretty sure I once wore my helmet backwards for an entire afternoon. Yet, here I am, the object of royal affection. Go figure.

So, what's a knight to do when he's suddenly the most sought-after bachelor in the land? Well, the first thing I did was panic. Then I ate a lot of cake. Because, you know, free cake.

After the sugar rush wore off, I realized I needed a plan. I couldn't just keep accepting all these gifts and awkwardly dodging marriage proposals. That's just rude. And potentially dangerous. (Royal family drama is not something I want to get involved in).

My strategy? Honesty. Kind, respectful honesty. I started writing back to the princesses. Short, sweet, and extremely polite letters emphasizing the importance of friendship and the dangers of rushing into things. And, you know, casually mentioning that I value my freedom.

It’s been...an experience. Some princesses took it well. Others… not so much. Let's just say I may have accidentally started a miniature cold war between the Orange Princess and the Horse Princess. Whoops.

The good news is, the crazy has died down a bit. I'm no longer receiving daily serenades outside my (tiny) cottage. The marriage proposals have decreased to a manageable trickle. And I can finally walk through the royal gardens without fear of being ambushed by a gaggle of giggling princesses.

But the lingering question remains: Why me? What is it about this slightly awkward, perpetually confused knight that made all these princesses go bonkers? Is it the (occasional) bravery? The (questionable) sense of humor? Or is it just… my amazing hair under my helmet?

I’m still not sure. Maybe I'll never know. But hey, at least I got a good story out of it. And a lifetime supply of orange-flavored pastries. Thanks, Clementine! You're a peach… or, well, an orange.

The lesson here? Sometimes, life throws you the weirdest curveballs. And sometimes, those curveballs come in the form of lovesick princesses. Just roll with it. And always, always be polite. You never know when you might need a royal favor. Or a slice of cake.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a batch of thank you notes to write. And possibly a badger to rescue. Apparently, Petunia's got a nemesis.
