Okay, so let's be real. Claiming I "raised" my younger sister is a slight exaggeration. But hear me out! I definitely had a hand in shaping her magnificent weirdness. And honestly, who wouldn't want to take credit for that?

Think of me as the co-pilot on the Sisterhood Starship. Our parents were Captain and First Mate, obviously. But I was definitely messing with the controls in the back. Sometimes for good. Sometimes... not so much.

The Early Years: A Training Montage (of Sorts)

Picture this: two kids. One, slightly older and convinced she knows everything. The other, a sponge absorbing all the questionable wisdom. That was us. My questionable wisdom included, but wasn't limited to:

• The correct way to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (crusts always off).
• Why cats are superior to dogs (don't @ me).
• And the vital importance of knowing all the lyrics to Spice Girls songs.

Weird fact #1: She used to believe I could communicate with squirrels. I may have… encouraged that belief. Sorry, Mom and Dad!

I taught her how to climb trees. This led to several scraped knees and one incident involving a particularly angry bird. But hey, character building!

Teenage Wasteland (But, Like, Fun?)

Then came the teenage years. Cue the angst, the bad haircuts, and the questionable fashion choices. I, of course, had already mastered all of these things. So naturally, I offered my expert guidance.

My guidance mostly involved borrowing her clothes without asking. (Sorry again, Mom and Dad! And sis!). But I also gave her important advice, like:

• The perfect way to apply eyeliner (still working on this one, tbh).
• How to fake a stomachache to get out of gym class (evil, but effective).
• And the absolute necessity of having a secret language with your best friend.

She actually developed a pretty impressive secret language. I could never crack it. Maybe I wasn’t as influential as I thought?

Weird fact #2: We once tried to start a detective agency. We mostly solved mysteries like "Who ate all the cookies?" and "Where did my left sock go?" Riveting stuff.

Adulting: A Collaborative Effort

Fast forward to adulthood. Now, we’re less about peanut butter sandwiches and more about… paying taxes? Still figuring that one out. But even now, I feel like our roles are still somewhat intact. I still give (unsolicited) advice. She still mostly ignores it. It’s a beautiful cycle.

Weird fact #3: She's actually way better at adulting than I am. She has her life together. I’m still trying to figure out how to use the self-checkout machine at the grocery store.

The truth is, she’s amazing. Smart, funny, and ridiculously kind. Did I raise her? Maybe not entirely. But I definitely left my mark. A sparkly, glitter-covered, slightly chaotic mark.

I like to think I helped her become the unique and wonderful human she is today. Even if that means she sometimes blames me for her obsession with 90s pop music. Totally worth it.

So, yeah, I may not have officially raised her. But I was there. I witnessed the evolution. I contributed to the chaos. And honestly, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Because sisters, man. They're the best. Even when they steal your favorite sweater.

And who knows, maybe one day she'll admit that I actually did teach her something useful. Like, I don't know, how to properly binge-watch Netflix without feeling guilty. That's a valuable life skill, right?
