I Was More Overpowered Than Hero

Okay, so picture this: You’re in a fantasy world, right? Knights, dragons, the whole shebang. Everyone’s buzzing about the Chosen One, the Hero destined to save the kingdom. And me? Well, I was… something else. Let’s just say I made the Hero look like he was fighting with a butter knife.
I wasn’t supposed to be overpowered. Seriously! I was aiming for "competent sidekick" at best. Maybe a charming rogue with a knack for lockpicking. But somewhere along the line, my stat rolls went completely bonkers. I’m talking critical success on everything, like the game glitched in my favor. (Maybe it was a bug? A feature? Who knows!)
Accidental God-Mode Activated
It started subtly. The Hero would be struggling with a particularly nasty goblin, and I'd, like, accidentally sneeze and the goblin would spontaneously combust. Okay, maybe not combust, but you get the idea. Exaggeration for comedic effect, people! The point is, I was unintentionally solving problems before the Hero even had a chance to draw his sword. He'd be standing there, all heroic and determined, and I'd be like, “Uh, is it over already?”
Must Read
The Hero was… bewildered. Understandably so. He trained his whole life for this! Years of sword practice, motivational speeches from the village elder, uncomfortable armor... and here I was, solving ancient riddles while simultaneously juggling flaming pineapples (figuratively speaking, of course. Though, now that I think about it, I probably could juggle flaming pineapples).
The dungeon crawls were the worst (or best, depending on your perspective). Traps? I’d casually disarm them while humming a tune. Boss battles? Forget about it. I’d accidentally trip and the boss would somehow impale itself on its own sword. Seriously, the RNG gods were on my side, and they had a wicked sense of humor.

Embarrassing the Hero, One Quest at a Time
I tried to dial it back, I really did. I’d let the Hero take the lead, feign struggling, maybe even take a dramatic tumble. But then a dragon would show up, and I’d instinctively cast some ridiculously powerful spell that disintegrated it into pixie dust. Oops.
The Hero started giving me the side-eye. You know the one. The “are-you-doing-this-on-purpose” side-eye. I swear, I wasn't! It was just… happening. My power level was over 9000! (Sorry, had to. Couldn't resist.)

It got to the point where the villagers started chanting my name instead of the Hero’s. He wasn't thrilled. There were rumors I was a secret demigod, or a time traveler from a future where everyone had superpowers. Honestly, I wish I knew the answer myself.
The Unexpected Perks (and Quirks)
Okay, being ridiculously powerful wasn’t all bad. I could fly, conjure food out of thin air (useful for those long dungeon crawls), and I even managed to accidentally invent a cure for the common cold. (The Hero was especially grateful for that one, let me tell you.)

But the real perk? Seeing the joy I could bring to others. Helping people, protecting the innocent, and generally making the world a better place, even if it was by accident. That’s what truly mattered.
Finding Balance (and Letting the Hero Shine)
Eventually, I learned to control my powers (somewhat). I realized that being a true hero wasn't about being the strongest, but about empowering others. So, I started using my abilities to support the Hero, to give him the edge he needed to succeed. I became his ultimate support character, his personal power-up, his… well, you get the idea.

And you know what? He finally got his moment in the sun. He defeated the final boss, saved the kingdom, and became the legendary hero everyone knew he could be. And I? I was happy to stand by his side, knowing that I played a part in his victory, even if it was a slightly unconventional one.
So, the moral of the story? Maybe you're not the chosen one. Maybe you feel like you're always overshadowed. But everyone has their own unique strengths, their own special abilities. Embrace them, use them to help others, and who knows? You might just be more powerful than you think.
And hey, even if you accidentally sneeze and incinerate a few goblins along the way, it's all good!
