I Will Protect The Lady - Chapter 1

Okay, picture this: I'm at a convention, elbowing my way through a sea of cosplayers and merch tables, when suddenly I hear a panicked "Oh no! Is that…?!" I turn around, and there's this girl, eyes wide with terror, staring at a very enthusiastic fan heading her way. Instinct kicked in, and before I knew it, I'd wedged myself between her and the approaching stampede, muttering something about needing to, uh, borrow her amazing sword prop for a photo. (Spoiler alert: I didn't.)
Yeah, it was awkward. But it also got me thinking about the whole concept of protection, especially when it comes to the female leads in the stories we love. Which neatly brings me to..."I Will Protect The Lady," Chapter 1.
So, what's the deal with this manhwa, you ask? Well, buckle up, because it's a reincarnation trope with a twist, a dash of intrigue, and a whole lotta "OMG, he's SO devoted!" moments.
Must Read
The Premise: Dying and Trying Again
The first chapter throws us right into the deep end. Our protagonist, an unnamed woman (at least in the opening scenes, we find out her name later), meets a rather unfortunate end. Like, really unfortunate. Think betrayal, despair, and a whole heap of unfairness. But hey, that's isekai life, right? Somebody’s gotta die tragically so we can get the ball rolling!
But fear not! This isn't the end. Because, in true reincarnation fashion, she wakes up...as a baby. A very privileged baby, mind you. She's reborn as Roxana Agrece, daughter of the ridiculously powerful (and potentially evil) Dion Agrece. And that's where things get interesting.

See, Roxana is now living in the world of a novel she apparently read in her previous life. A novel filled with scheming nobles, dangerous power struggles, and a tragic female lead named...Astel. (Remember that name, it’s important).
Roxana's New Mission: No More Tragedy!
Okay, so Roxana, armed with her knowledge of the future (aka the plot of the novel), decides she's not going to let Astel suffer the same fate she did in the book. She's basically saying, "Nope! Not on my watch! This time, we're rewriting history!"

And that's the central conflict right there. Will Roxana be able to use her insider knowledge to change Astel's destiny? Will she be able to navigate the treacherous waters of her own family, who are, let's face it, not exactly saints? These are the questions Chapter 1 plants in our minds, and they’re pretty darn compelling, aren’t they?
The chapter introduces us to the Agrece family dynamic, which is about as warm and fuzzy as a cactus convention. Dion Agrece is clearly a man you don't want to cross, and the other family members seem to be constantly plotting and scheming. (Honestly, I wouldn’t trust any of them to watch my pet goldfish, let alone my back!)

First Impressions and Lingering Questions
Chapter 1 does a great job of setting the stage. We get a taste of Roxana's determination, the dangers of her new world, and the stakes involved. The art is beautiful, the characters are intriguing, and the premise is definitely hooking.
What I'm particularly curious about is how far Roxana is willing to go to protect Astel. Is she willing to betray her own family? Will she resort to morally questionable tactics? Because, let's be real, the Agreces don't seem like the kind of people you can reason with using logic and kindness. (I’m picturing some serious power plays and maybe a few well-placed assassinations...don't judge me!)
So, all in all, "I Will Protect The Lady," Chapter 1 is a solid start to what promises to be a gripping and emotional story. It’s got everything: a sympathetic protagonist, a compelling mystery, and the potential for some seriously epic battles. And let's not forget the underlying theme of female empowerment, which is always a win in my book. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go find Chapter 2!
