Living As The Villain's Stepmother Ch 1

Okay, so picture this. You're just chilling, maybe scrolling through some shady reincarnation manga (don't judge!), and BAM! You're suddenly the villain's stepmother. Seriously? Did I accidentally sell my soul or something? It’s not exactly the lottery I was hoping for.
That's basically how "Living As the Villain's Stepmother" starts. Talk about an opening hook! Our main character (let's call her MC because... well, I'm lazy) wakes up in a ridiculously opulent room. I'm talking chandeliers the size of small cars. And she realizes… she's not herself. Dun dun DUN!
The "Oh Crap" Moment
It’s always that "oh crap" moment, isn't it? Where the reality of the situation slams into you harder than a rogue carriage in a period drama. The MC figures out she's become Eleanor, the stepmother of Aster, the future big bad. You know, the guy who's probably going to bring about the apocalypse and stuff. No pressure, right?
Must Read
And Aster? He's described as this cold, brooding kid who hates everyone. Charming! Apparently, Eleanor in the original story was a complete nightmare. Think evil stepmother trope cranked up to eleven. Like, Cinderella’s stepmother would be taking notes. So, yeah, the MC has a lot of damage control to do if she wants to survive this whole mess. Because, you know, villains tend to have… let’s just say short tempers.
Step-Parenting 101 (But With More Magic)
The first chapter is mostly setup. World-building, character introductions, the whole shebang. We learn about the political climate (which is, predictably, tense), the family dynamics (equally tense), and Eleanor's general reputation (you guessed it... TENSE!). Honestly, it’s a wonder she hasn't been assassinated already.

But the MC? She's actually trying! She’s thinking, "Okay, maybe if I’m nice to this kid, he won’t grow up to be a world-conquering tyrant." Good luck with that, honey. Still, gotta admire the optimism.
She attempts to, like, have a conversation with Aster. Offer him snacks. Basic stepmotherly duties, right? Except Aster is having none of it. He glares. He sulks. He probably plots her demise in his little villainous head. You can almost see the dark energy radiating off him.
The Struggle is Real (and Hilarious)
What I really love about this first chapter is the internal monologue. The MC is constantly battling with herself. Like, "Should I try to hug him? No, that's probably a bad idea. Maybe a firm handshake? Nah, too formal. A casual nod? He’ll probably interpret that as a sign of disrespect. Ugh, this is harder than parallel parking!"

It's that relatable awkwardness that makes it so engaging. I mean, who hasn't had an excruciatingly awkward encounter with a family member? Multiply that by a thousand, add a sprinkle of magic, and you’ve got "Living As the Villain's Stepmother."
And let's not forget the other characters. There's the loyal (and slightly clueless) maid, the distant husband (who is probably hiding some major secrets), and a whole host of nobles who seem to be judging Eleanor’s every move. It's a veritable minefield of social awkwardness.

First Impression: Hooked!
So, after chapter one, am I invested? Absolutely! The premise is unique (or at least, a fun spin on a familiar trope). The MC is relatable and entertaining. And the potential for chaos is off the charts. Seriously, how is she going to turn this brooding child into a functional human being, let alone prevent him from destroying the world?
I’m already picturing hilarious scenarios and epic fails. I’m crossing my fingers for some heartwarming moments too (although, let's be honest, this is a story about a villain, so probably not).
I'm officially on board for this train wreck. Are you? Let me know what you think!
