My Temp Job As The Youngest Daughter Novel

My Temp Job As The Youngest Daughter Novel

Okay, so picture this: Me. Temping. But not just any temp job, oh no. I was basically living inside one of those super dramatic Korean novels. You know, the ones where the main character is always the long-lost, youngest daughter of some chaebol family?

Wild, right? I know! It all started so innocently. Just another boring office job. Spreadsheet here, coffee run there. The usual grind. But then… the summons came.

Turns out, the CEO (who, by the way, looked suspiciously like a k-drama actor, I swear) needed someone to "observe" his youngest daughter. Apparently, she was a bit… spirited. A handful, if you will. And who better to understand a "spirited" young woman than… me? (Don't answer that.)

So, I became her shadow. Officially, I was there to "assist" her with her internship. Unofficially? I was her chaperone, bodyguard, therapist, and personal stylist all rolled into one. And let me tell you, it was exhausting. But also, kind of hilarious.

Like, one minute we're discussing the nuances of Korean calligraphy (apparently, that's important when you're a chaebol heiress), and the next she's planning a flash mob dance performance in the middle of the company cafeteria. Seriously, what is with these kids?

The drama was real. Think stolen glances, whispered secrets, and enough family feuds to make Shakespeare jealous. And I was right in the middle of it, notebook in hand, pretending to take notes on… something. Mostly I was just trying not to laugh.

The clothes, though? Amazing. Designer everything. I'm talking bags that cost more than my car (okay, maybe my previous car), shoes that looked like they belonged in a museum, and dresses that screamed "I'm richer than you!" It was a serious eye-opening experience. Did I try on a few things when she wasn't looking? Maybe. Don't judge me!

The food was another level. Forget instant ramen and sad desk lunches. We're talking Michelin-star restaurants, private chefs, and more exotic fruits than I even knew existed. I'm pretty sure I gained like, five pounds just from the appetizers. Worth it.

But here's the thing: underneath all the extravagance and drama, she was just a kid. A bit lost, a bit lonely, and definitely trying to figure things out. And surprisingly, we actually bonded. We talked about boys, about dreams, about the pressures of living under a microscope. You know, the usual girl stuff.

It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, of course. There were tantrums (hers), misunderstandings (mostly mine), and a few near-disasters involving runaway golf carts and priceless works of art (don’t ask). But through it all, we learned to trust each other. Or at least, tolerate each other.

And then, just as suddenly as it started, it was over. My temp assignment ended. The youngest daughter was off to… well, I don't actually know where she went. Some fancy boarding school, probably. To learn how to run a global empire or something equally terrifying.

I went back to my regular life. Back to spreadsheets and coffee runs. But things were different. I'd seen behind the curtain. I'd glimpsed a world of unimaginable wealth and ridiculous drama. And I survived. (Mostly.)

So, would I do it again? Maybe. If the price was right. And if I got to keep the designer handbag. Just kidding! (Mostly.) But seriously, it was an experience I'll never forget. A little bit crazy, a little bit surreal, and definitely one for the books. Or maybe, you know, a k-drama of my own? Who knows!

The real question is, would you take the job? Be honest!
