New World Levelling Weaponsmithing

New World Levelling Weaponsmithing

Hey there, fellow Aeternum adventurer! Grab your coffee (or maybe a health potion?), because we're diving deep into the wonderful, sometimes frustrating, but ultimately rewarding world of Weaponsmithing in New World. Levelling this skill? Let's just say it's a journey. A long journey. But hey, who said mastering the art of forging deadly weapons was going to be a walk in the park?

So, you wanna be a master Weaponsmith, huh? Dream of crafting that perfect Great Axe that sends enemies flying? (Who doesn't?). Well, buckle up, buttercup, because it's time to get down to the nitty-gritty. We're talking iron, steel, starmetal, and a whole lot of grinding. But fear not! I’m here to guide you, hopefully without too many tears (mostly yours, let's be honest).

The Early Grind: Iron, Iron Everywhere!

Let's be real, the early levels (1-50ish) are all about Iron. Seriously. So much iron. You'll be spending more time staring at iron veins than your character's face. (Which, let's face it, might be for the best, depending on your character creation choices… no judgment!).

Where to find it? Everywhere! Seriously, it's practically a weed. Check near rivers, hills, and just about any rocky area. Pro-tip: Invest in some Mining Luck gear early. It'll make a huge difference in the long run. Trust me, future you will thank you. Future you will probably also be covered in dirt and ore dust, but that's the price of progress!

What to craft? Mostly Iron Swords, Hatchets, and Warhammers. The recipe costs are relatively low, and they give decent XP. Don't get too attached to these beauties, though. You'll be dismantling them faster than you can say "Smelt!". Speaking of which…

Don't forget to Smelt! Turning your raw iron ore into iron ingots is crucial. You can't make anything without them, and you'll need a LOT. Keep those smelters running! (Just try not to accidentally set the settlement on fire… again. We've all been there, right?).

Also, consider joining a faction ASAP and doing their daily crafting quests. Free XP and materials? Yes, please!

Mid-Game Mayhem: Steel Yourself!

Okay, you've braved the iron mines, your inventory is constantly overflowing, and you're starting to twitch whenever you see a rock. Congratulations! You've reached the Steel age (levels 50-100ish). Time to trade in that rusty pickaxe for... well, a slightly less rusty pickaxe, probably. But hey, progress!

Finding the goods: Steel requires Iron Ingots (duh!), Charcoal, and Flux. Charcoal is easy, just toss some wood into a kiln. But Flux? That's a bit trickier. You can find it in specific nodes scattered around Aeternum, or (more likely) you can buy it from the Trading Post. Seriously, unless you really enjoy running around looking for tiny rocks, just buy it. Your sanity will thank you.

Crafting conundrums: Steel Swords, Hatchets, and Warhammers are still your bread and butter, but now you can also start dabbling in other weapons. Experiment! See what gives you the most XP per material cost. Remember, it's all about efficiency (and minimizing the amount of time you spend screaming at your monitor).

Tool Time: This is also a good time to start crafting Steel tools – Pickaxes, Logging Axes, Sickles, etc. Better tools mean faster gathering, which means more materials, which means more XP! It's a beautiful, self-sustaining cycle of resource exploitation! (Don't tell the Dryads!).

Trading Post Troubles: Keep an eye on the Trading Post prices. Sometimes, it's actually cheaper to buy Steel weapons than it is to craft them. If that's the case, don't be afraid to take the easy way out! Smart grinding is efficient grinding.

The Endgame Grind: Starmetal and Beyond!

Alright, champion! You've made it through the Steel ages, your fingers are permanently calloused, and you can identify iron ore from a mile away. Time to face the Starmetal challenge (levels 100-150ish) and beyond! This is where things get… interesting. And by interesting, I mean expensive.

Starry, starry ore: Starmetal Ore is found in higher-level zones (think Great Cleave, Shattered Mountain). Be prepared for some serious competition from other players, and maybe a few run-ins with angry wolves (or worse!). Bring friends, potions, and a healthy dose of patience.

The secret sauce: To make Starmetal Ingots, you'll need Starmetal Ore, Charcoal, and Sand Flux. Sand Flux is even rarer (and more expensive) than regular Flux. Good luck! You'll need it.

Orichalcum is your friend (sort of): Once you get to around level 125-150, you'll be crafting a ton of Orichalcum tools and weapons. Why? Because they provide slightly more xp per craft. You can get Orichalcum ore from the high-level zones, but it is also very contested, so consider buying it from the Trading Post.

Asmodeum!

Legendary Loot Awaits: At this point, you can start crafting some seriously powerful weapons. Starmetal Swords, Hatchets, Warhammers, and Great Axes are all on the table. Keep an eye out for rare crafting mods that can add special perks to your creations. Who knows, you might just craft the perfect weapon!

The Asmodeum Road: It is the last leg in the journey. To make Asmodeum, you need to be level 200 in smelting, and you will need a lot of rare resources: Tolvium, Cinnabar, Voidmetal and Charcoal. It is no easy feat, but the reward is crafting great weapons! It takes 24 hours to reset and craft an asmodeum, and the smelting station has to be tier 5, so you might have to go to different settlements to find the right station. You will need to complete quests to increase your daily cooldown from 1 to 10. It is a long path to go, but it is worthy.

Faction Fortunes: Keep those faction quests coming! They're a great way to supplement your income and get extra materials. Plus, you can earn faction tokens that can be exchanged for some sweet gear.

Tips and Tricks for the Aspiring Weaponsmith

Okay, so you know the basics. But here are a few extra tips and tricks to help you on your way to Weaponsmithing mastery:

  • Town Buffs are your friend: Keep an eye out for town projects that offer crafting bonuses. These can significantly reduce the amount of materials you need, or increase the amount of XP you gain.
  • Storage is key: Invest in extra storage chests in your houses. You're going to need them. Trust me. (Also, learn how to manage your inventory efficiently. Nobody wants to be that person who's constantly overweight and can't move!).
  • Salvage Smart: Don't just blindly salvage everything. Sometimes, you can get more gold by selling your crafted items on the Trading Post. Do some research and see what's selling well.
  • Join a Company: A good company can provide you with resources, support, and a sense of community. Plus, you can pool your resources together to tackle bigger crafting projects.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for help: The New World community can be surprisingly helpful. If you're stuck, don't be afraid to ask for advice in chat or on the forums.
  • Take breaks!: Seriously. Staring at a screen for hours on end can be detrimental to your health. Get up, stretch, go outside, and touch some grass. Your eyes (and your sanity) will thank you.

Experiment: Don't be afraid to try different recipes and crafting strategies. You might just discover a new, more efficient way to level up your Weaponsmithing. There are crafting calculators available online that will help you determine the resources needed, the level increase to each recipe, and cost of materials.

Rested XP Buff: Make sure that you are always crafting with Rested XP. This is a good way to accelerate the process and is well worth the cost. You can get Rested XP by staying in a settlement that you own or that your faction owns.

Always be Gathering: You can always gather materials while you are traveling. You can also gather while you are crafting. This is a good way to keep your inventory full and your materials plentiful.

Levelling Weaponsmithing in New World is a marathon, not a sprint. There will be times when you feel like giving up, but don't! The satisfaction of crafting your own powerful weapons is well worth the effort. So, grab your hammer, fire up the forge, and get crafting! Aeternum needs more skilled Weaponsmiths, and who knows, maybe you'll be the next legendary craftsman. Good luck, and happy forging!

So, there you have it! A (hopefully) helpful guide to Weaponsmithing in New World. Now go forth and conquer! And maybe send me a free Great Axe when you reach level 200. Just kidding (mostly!).
