Please Pay Attention To Me Chapter 1

Please Pay Attention To Me Chapter 1

Okay, so spill the tea! We're diving headfirst into "Please Pay Attention To Me" Chapter 1. Buckle up, buttercups, because it's a wild ride from the get-go. And trust me, you'll want to pay attention (pun intended, obviously!).

First off, we meet our protagonist, Jian Suizhou. Sounds kinda serious, right? Don't be fooled! This guy is... well, let's just say he's got a unique way of dealing with, uh, things. He wakes up in a hospital bed. Classic beginning, isn't it? But here's the kicker: he's got amnesia! DUN DUN DUN! (I love dramatic sound effects, don't you?).

Amnesia! Plot device extraordinaire! Now, normally, amnesia is all tragic and angsty, but Jian Suizhou is like, "Meh, whatever. New life, who dis?" Seriously, his nonchalance is almost concerning. In a hilarious way, of course.

The Mysterious Voice

So, there he is, trying to piece together his life, and then BAM! A voice pops into his head. Not just any voice, mind you. A system voice. Yes, you heard me correctly. He's basically got a video game UI in his brain. A system is an element of a transmigration or rebirth stories, right? We’re set for some isekai hijinks!

The system’s like, “Hey, bro. You’re Jian Suizhou now. Also, you're kinda... indebted. Gotta rack up those 'attention points.' Good luck!" Attention points? What even ARE attention points? Sounds suspiciously like social media validation, doesn't it?

This is where it gets interesting. The system tells him that he needs to gain attention to survive. But wait for it...he needs to gain attention by acting as a 'scum gong'. WHAT?! A scum gong? For those not in the know, a "scum gong" is basically the bad guy boyfriend in a BL (Boys' Love) novel. Think emotionally unavailable, maybe a touch abusive, definitely a heartbreaker. Oh boy. This is going to be deliciously awkward, right?

Our poor Jian Suizhou is like, "Hold up. I have amnesia, I have a voice in my head, and now I have to be a jerk? This is not the fresh start I signed up for!" But does he have a choice? Probably not. Hence, the plot! (Isn't plot convenient sometimes?).

'Pay Attention To' or 'Pay Attention On'? Which One Is Correct
'Pay Attention To' or 'Pay Attention On'? Which One Is Correct

And the really tricky part is that Jian Suizhou actually had a white moonlight (unrequited love) who is sick in the hospital. That's so complicated! How's he supposed to be a scum gong, while he's actually pining after someone else? It is very fun to watch!

First Impressions Are a Killer

So, Jian Suizhou, bless his clueless heart, decides to go see his 'white moonlight' (the person he supposedly loves). But remember, he's got amnesia, so he doesn't actually remember this person. It's like walking into a blind date... where your brain is actively trying to sabotage you.

He meets... wait for it... Yan Mingshen. Our white moonlight in shining (or should I say, hospital gown?) armor. He's pale, he's weak, he's radiating "tragic beauty." Seriously, you can practically hear the dramatic music swelling in the background. Of course, because he is weak, he is being taken care of, by his younger brother. It is our next key character!

And this is where Jian Suizhou's "scum gong" training begins. Or, rather, his hilariously failed attempts at being a jerk. He tries to be cold and distant, but he mostly comes off as confused and slightly constipated. Which, let's be honest, is probably pretty accurate considering his current situation. I can't laugh at a man in pain, but I can laugh at a man attempting to be a "scum gong".

But there's a major complication. Enter Yan Mingshen's younger brother, Yan Wangui. Imagine the quietest and most dangerous viper, and you will still not have pictured this man! He's intense, he's protective, and he clearly does not like Jian Suizhou one bit. And honestly? He has every right to be suspicious. Jian Suizhou is, after all, supposed to be the source of his brother's suffering in the "original" timeline. So the question is, is Yan Wangui a threat to Jian Suizhou, or is he a key to survival? Only time will tell.

Also, Yan Wangui is gorgeous. Like, stop-you-in-your-tracks gorgeous. Which, of course, throws another wrench into Jian Suizhou's already convoluted plan. Because suddenly, "being a scum gong" is getting a whole lot more complicated when there's a super attractive bodyguard glaring daggers at you. Can you see the triangle that's about to happen? I do!

The "Scum Gong" Fails

Jian Suizhou tries to be a jerk, really he does. But it's like watching a kitten try to be a lion. He mumbles something about "being busy" and "not having time," but his heart isn't really in it. Mostly because his brain is still processing the fact that he has amnesia and a system in his head, and this whole situation is just utterly bizarre. It's like he’s trying to follow a script he doesn't have, and everyone else knows their lines perfectly.

And here's the genius of it all: Jian Suizhou's attempts at being a "scum gong" are so bad, they're actually endearing. He's basically a golden retriever puppy trying to act like a Rottweiler. It's adorable and hilarious all at once. I just want to pat his head and tell him everything will be okay.

Of course, Yan Mingshen, being the tragic white moonlight, doesn't really react to Jian Suizhou's half-hearted attempts at cruelty. He's too busy being sickly and ethereal. It's like he's already resigned to his fate. Which, I suppose, he kinda is in the "original" timeline. But we're not in the original timeline anymore, are we? (Wink, wink).

The tension in the room is thick enough to cut with a knife, mostly thanks to Yan Wangui's death glare. This guy is seriously intimidating. You can tell he's fiercely protective of his brother, and he's not buying Jian Suizhou's act for a second. He probably knows Jian Suizhou has amnesia before Jian Suizhou knew.

Unexpected Kindness?

Despite his initial (failed) attempts at being a "scum gong", Jian Suizhou ends up... helping Yan Mingshen. He clumsily arranges his blanket and accidentally says something vaguely comforting. It's like the "scum gong" programming is glitching out. Which, frankly, is a relief.

And here's the thing: even though he doesn't remember Yan Mingshen, there's still a part of him that cares. Maybe it's residual feelings from the "original" Jian Suizhou, or maybe it's just his inherent goodness shining through. Whatever it is, it's throwing a major wrench into the system's plans. A wrench that I enjoy seeing.

Of course, Yan Wangui is watching all of this with narrowed eyes. He's probably thinking, "What is this guy up to? Is this some kind of elaborate manipulation tactic?" And honestly, can you blame him for being suspicious?

The chapter ends with Jian Suizhou leaving the hospital, utterly bewildered and completely unsure of what to do next. He's got a system in his head telling him to be a jerk, a gorgeous bodyguard glaring at him, and a sickly white moonlight who needs his help. Talk about a recipe for disaster (and comedy!). I, for one, am here for it!

Final Thoughts (and Wild Speculation!)

So, what does all of this mean? Well, for starters, Jian Suizhou is clearly not cut out to be a "scum gong." He's too inherently decent. Which means he's going to have to find another way to earn those attention points. But how? That's the million-dollar question. (Or, you know, the attention-point question). Will the system change its demands? Will Jian Suizhou be able to get his memories back? What is going to happen to Jian Mingshen's illness?

And what about Yan Wangui? Is he going to be a friend, a foe, or something in between? Personally, I'm hoping for "something in between." Because, let's be real, the tension between him and Jian Suizhou is palpable. Could this be the start of a beautiful, albeit complicated, romance? Only the next chapters will tell!

I personally have a suspicion that Yan Wangui will be the key to solving the mystery. It's obvious he cares a lot about his brother, but I think he's holding some information about Jian Suizhou. I hope he's going to be a little more relaxed with Jian Suizhou. Because right now, it looks like Jian is one mistake away from being killed.

And last but not least, what's the deal with the system? Is it really just a random video game UI, or is there something more sinister going on? I'm betting on the latter. Because, let's face it, nothing is ever as simple as it seems. Jian Suizhou will also need to find a way to get rid of the system completely to gain true freedom. But he must be careful, the system might not let him go so easily!

Chapter 1 has set the stage for what promises to be a hilarious, angsty, and utterly addictive story. So, grab your popcorn, settle in, and get ready to pay attention. Because this is one ride you won't want to miss!
