Reborn As An Abandoned Princess After Dying Of Overwork

Reborn As An Abandoned Princess After Dying Of Overwork

Okay, so you know how you sometimes feel like you’re going to die from work? Like, your soul is slowly draining away, fueled only by lukewarm coffee and the sheer terror of missing a deadline? Well, I actually did. Died, I mean. From overwork. Not the lukewarm coffee, thankfully. That would be a really embarrassing obituary.

And then? BAM! Reincarnated. Except, instead of, you know, a fluffy kitten or a majestic eagle, I woke up as… an abandoned princess. I’m not even kidding. Princess Anya, of the Kingdom of… uh… let's call it Glorianna (because I apparently have amnesia regarding royal names and kingdom histories). Glorianna, where the magic happens… apparently. I haven't seen any magic yet, unless you count the ability of my royal diapers to hold a surprising amount of… well, you get the picture.

The Abandonment Issue: A Royal Oopsie?

So, “abandoned” might be putting it mildly. More like “forgotten in a dusty tower with a single, suspiciously cheerful, house elf named Brenda.” Brenda insists the tower is “charming” and “full of character.” I suspect it’s full of cobwebs and existential dread, but hey, who am I to argue with a house elf? Especially one who controls my snack supply.

Apparently, being a princess in Glorianna is less about tiaras and balls and more about… political maneuvering? My parents, the King and Queen, are allegedly very busy. Super, duper important things to do. Like signing trade agreements for imported glitter and attending meetings about the optimal shade of royal purple. You know, kingdom-saving stuff.

They probably just forgot about me. Happens to the best of us, right? Like that time I left my keys in the fridge? Yeah, being abandoned in a tower is only slightly worse than that.

Royal Perks (Or Lack Thereof)

Being a reborn princess sounds glamorous, but let me tell you, the reality is a bit… underwhelming. My wardrobe consists mostly of hand-me-down rags and Brenda's questionable attempts at "royal couture" using repurposed potato sacks. The food? Let’s just say I’ve developed a profound appreciation for stale bread and slightly moldy cheese. On the plus side, I'm building an impressive resistance to food poisoning!

Also, no royal duties. Which, honestly, I’m fine with. I had enough “duties” in my past life to last several lifetimes. Though, I do miss my ergonomic chair. Stone floors are not kind to the tailbone.

But hey, there are some upsides. Like, I can literally do whatever I want (within the confines of my tower, naturally). I’ve spent hours perfecting my skills in interpretive dance, writing epic poems about the existential angst of a forgotten princess (very emo), and teaching Brenda how to play “Rock, Paper, Scissors.” She’s surprisingly competitive.

The Plot Thickens… (Maybe?)

Now, I know what you’re thinking: "This sounds like the setup for a grand adventure! Evil stepmothers! Hidden prophecies! A dashing prince on a quest!" Well, so far, nothing. Just Brenda and the occasional bat. But I have a sneaking suspicion things are about to get interesting.

Why? Because yesterday, I found a secret passage hidden behind a tapestry of a particularly grumpy-looking unicorn. Inside? A dusty book, titled "So You've Been Abandoned: A Princess's Guide to Self-Reliance and World Domination (Optional)." World Domination? Apparently, I'm not the only abandoned princess in history to get bored.

The book is full of helpful tips like “Learn to wield a sword (even if it's just a butter knife)” and “Master the art of passive-aggressive diplomacy.” It also suggests befriending a dragon. I’m still working on that one. Brenda says there aren't any dragons nearby, just a particularly aggressive goose. Close enough, right?

So, what's next for Princess Anya? Honestly, I have no idea. But I'm armed with a dubious book, a slightly unhinged house elf, and a newfound appreciation for the finer things in life (like clean underwear). I’m pretty sure I can handle whatever Glorianna throws at me. Or at least, fake it 'til I make it. After all, what's the worst that could happen? Get overthrown by a particularly intelligent goose? Stay tuned!

Oh, and a fun fact before I forget: Did you know that in some cultures, being abandoned as a child was seen as a sign of great destiny? Yeah, I'm clinging to that one. Helps me sleep at night… mostly.
