The Hopeless Desire Of A Witch

The Hopeless Desire Of A Witch

Okay, so picture this: You're Brenda. Brenda's a witch. Not like, a scary green-skinned, wart-nosed witch (although, no judgment if that's your aesthetic). Brenda's more of a trendy, organic-tea-drinking, crystals-in-her-bra kinda witch. She's got a great cauldron collection and a deep-seated, probably hopeless, desire.

And what is this burning, possibly foolish, desire, you ask? Brenda, my friends, wants to make someone levitate. Not just float a feather, or gently nudge a paperclip across the table. Brenda wants full-on, defying-gravity, feet-off-the-ground levitation. Think David Blaine meets Glinda the Good Witch.

Now, you might be thinking, "Isn't that, like, the basic witch move?" And you'd be partly right. Most witchy starter kits come with instructions for brewing a decent calming potion and maybe charming your cat to stop shredding the furniture. Levitation, though? That's advanced witchcraft, bordering on performance art.

Brenda’s tried EVERYTHING. We're talking ancient incantations whispered under the full moon. We're talking geometrically-perfect sigils drawn with ethically-sourced unicorn tears (okay, maybe not unicorn tears, but definitely some overpriced organic ink). She even tried positive affirmations! ("I am a powerful witch, I can make things float!") You know, the whole shebang.

Her first attempt involved her neighbor, Gary, who definitely did not sign up for this. Brenda had him stand on a yoga mat in her living room, surrounded by candles and the faint aroma of patchouli. She chanted some words she found in a dusty grimoire (probably mispronouncing half of them), and... nothing. Gary just stood there, looking increasingly uncomfortable. He later claimed he felt a slight draft, but that was probably just Brenda's questionable window sealing.

The Obstacles Are Real (and Hilarious)

The biggest problem, besides Brenda's questionable magical skills, is that levitation is hard! We’re talking about manipulating the fundamental forces of the universe here. And let's be honest, the universe doesn't exactly play by our rules. It's more like a chaotic toddler with a box of crayons and a bad attitude.

Another hurdle is Brenda's cat, Mr. Fluffernutter. He's adorable, but he has a habit of interrupting rituals by batting at the candles, shedding fur everywhere, and demanding tuna. Try concentrating on bending the laws of physics when a furry overlord is meowing for his dinner. It's not conducive to magical success, let me tell you.

Then there's the internet. Brenda spends hours researching levitation techniques, only to get bombarded with clickbait articles about "Ancient Alien Secrets" and "Unlock Your Third Eye!" The internet is a wonderful tool, but it's also a giant rabbit hole filled with misinformation and cat videos (Mr. Fluffernutter approves, though).

Hope Springs Eternal (Maybe?)

Despite the setbacks, Brenda refuses to give up. She's convinced that one day, she'll crack the code. Maybe she needs a different spell. Maybe she needs a more powerful crystal. Maybe she just needs to bribe Mr. Fluffernutter with extra tuna.

One particularly ambitious attempt involved a homemade contraption of wires, magnets, and a bicycle wheel. It looked less like a magical device and more like something Doc Brown would use to travel through time (badly). Needless to say, it didn't work. But hey, she got some exercise lugging it around!

The fun fact you probably didn’t know: There are actual physicists studying levitation! Not in the "Harry Potter" sense, but in the sense of using magnetic fields or sound waves to suspend objects in mid-air. So, Brenda's not completely crazy. She’s just a little ahead of the scientific curve. Or maybe she's just watched too many sci-fi movies. The jury's still out on that one.

So, is Brenda's dream of levitating someone a hopeless desire? Maybe. But in the meantime, she’s having a blast trying. And who knows? Maybe one day, she'll figure it out. And when she does, Gary will be the first to volunteer (probably after signing a very detailed waiver).

Until then, we can all admire her persistence, laugh at her mishaps, and maybe even secretly hope that she succeeds. After all, who wouldn't want to see someone float?
