To Be A Power In The Shadows Chapter 1

Hey friend! Ever wanted to be the mastermind pulling all the strings, but, you know, without all the actual work of being in the spotlight? Yeah, me too! Well, guess what I've been diving into? "To Be A Power In The Shadows" Chapter 1! And let me tell you, it's a wild ride.
So, right off the bat, we meet our main character, Cid Kagenou (or as I like to call him, "Shadowbro"). This kid? He's got ambition. But not the normal kind. He doesn't want to be king, or the strongest knight, or even the most popular guy in school. Nope. Shadowbro wants to be a power in the shadows. Think Batman, but instead of brooding in a cave, he's… well, we’ll get to that.
His goal? To be the ultimate puppet master, orchestrating events from behind the scenes. Like, imagine being the reason your school's bake sale was such a massive success...but nobody knowing it was you! Delicious, right? (Pun intended, naturally.)
Must Read
The "Secret Society" Dream
The hilarious part is, he's completely convinced there's a secret society controlling the world. And he's determined to fight them! (Spoiler alert: there probably isn't...at first. But hey, don't tell him that!). He's all about that "chuunibyou" life – that phase where you think you're secretly a hero or have magical powers. We've all been there, right? Remember that time you tried to levitate a pencil with your mind? Good times.
So, Shadowbro starts training. And I mean really training. Like, parkour in the woods at night, swinging swords, whispering dramatically to himself level training. He's basically preparing for a one-man show, but he doesn't know there’s no audience yet. It's like rehearsing for a play that doesn't exist! The dedication is… admirable, in a slightly unhinged kind of way.

Enter the… Er… "Experimental Subject"?
Then comes the twist! He stumbles upon a dying elf girl. And, being the helpful (and slightly delusional) guy he is, he decides to help her. How? By injecting her with his mana, of course! (Don't try this at home, kids. I'm pretty sure there are medical regulations against this.)
Now, this is where things get really interesting. Because guess what? It actually works! The elf girl, who he names Alpha, is cured! And she, being incredibly grateful, believes every single word of Shadowbro’s completely made-up backstory about the secret society. Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy!
Suddenly, Shadowbro has a disciple! And Alpha is fiercely loyal. Like, "I will conquer the world for you, my lord!" loyal. Which is kind of what he wanted, but he’s also like, “Wait, this is actually happening?!” Cue internal screaming.

He starts building his own "Shadow Garden" filled with other cured and equally devoted girls. And they all believe his elaborate stories about fighting the evil Diabolos cult. He’s basically running a D&D campaign in real life, except he's accidentally created a super-powerful organization. The irony is delicious!
The Power of Belief (and a Little Bit of Luck)
What makes this chapter so good is the sheer absurdity of it all. Shadowbro is just a normal (okay, maybe slightly eccentric) guy with a dream, and through a combination of hard work, sheer luck, and unwavering belief in his own fabricated reality, he's actually managed to create something amazing. He truly believes he's fighting a shadow war...and now, because of him, he actually is!

It's a reminder that sometimes, just believing in something – even if it's completely bonkers – can actually make it real. And hey, even if you don't create a secret organization, believing in yourself can help you achieve things you never thought possible.
So, go out there, embrace your inner chuunibyou, and start believing in something amazing. Who knows, you might just become a power in the shadows... or at least have a really good story to tell!
Keep reading friend!
