Confession time. I love 10 Things I Hate About You. But, like, I *really* love it. Is it perfect? Nah. And that's part of its charm, right?

Don't get me wrong, Heath Ledger was a god. But that "effortlessly messy" hair? I'm pretty sure a team of stylists labored over it. It just doesn't seem that effortless. I bet he used hairspray!

2. Padua High's Unrealistic Vibes

Padua High looks suspiciously like a college campus. Also, everyone seems rich and stylish. My high school looked like a beige prison. Where's the awkwardness and bad haircuts?

3. Joey Donner's Entire Existence

Ugh, Joey Donner. He's the embodiment of privilege and vapidity. Is it a trope? Yes. Does it still make me roll my eyes? Absolutely. He is so annoyingly smug!

4. The Over-the-Top Gestures

I get it, it's a teen rom-com. But the grand gestures? A marching band serenade in the stadium? A little much, isn't it? It's sweet, but also slightly terrifying for an introvert like me.

5. Kat's "I Hate Everything" Phase

I love Kat Stratford's feminist energy. But sometimes it feels a little performative. Does she *really* hate everything? Or is she just trying to be cool? A little of both, probably.

9. The Implied "Happily Ever After"

We don't see what happens after the movie ends. Do Kat and Patrick actually last? Do Cameron and Bianca stay together despite his awkwardness? I need a sequel!

10. Having to Pay to Watch It

Okay, this is the real kicker. In this day and age, why isn't 10 Things I Hate About You just readily available on every streaming platform? I dream of a world where teenage angst and witty banter are free for all! I wish it was available for free to stream.

It's a classic, I will admit. It's enjoyable, even with its flaws. Even though I have my issues with the film, I still rewatch it every year.
