Okay, let's talk 9-1-1: Lone Star, specifically Season 3, Episode 5. Remember that one? "Child Care." Buckle up, buttercups!
The Usual Suspects (We Love Them!)
Of course, we had our mainstays. Rob Lowe was looking as effortlessly charming as ever as Owen Strand. Angela Bassett wasn't here for this episode, because this is Lone Star.
Gina Torres slayed as Tommy Vega, as always. Seriously, can she just adopt me?
We can't forget the dynamic duo, TK and Carlos, played by Ronen Rubinstein and Rafael Silva. Their relationship is my reason to believe in true love. Fight me.
Guest Stars Galore!
This episode had some interesting guest stars popping in and out. Remember the daycare drama? Yeah, those folks.
There was a lady with some parenting issues. I can't recall her name but I am positive she had a hard time.
And a bunch of adorable (and chaotic) kid actors. Bless their little hearts.
Unpopular Opinion Time! (Brace Yourselves)
Okay, here's where I get controversial. Deep breath.
Am I the only one who sometimes finds the guest star storylines a bit...much? Like, they cram so much drama into one episode.
It is like the writers' room throws every possible life-threatening situation at the wall to see what sticks. I mean, I'm entertained, but still!
Don't get me wrong, the actors do a great job! But sometimes I just want more of our core team. More TK and Carlos domestic bliss, please! More Owen brooding handsomely. Give the people what they want!
Okay, unpopular opinion number two: did anyone else think the daycare owner was shady from the get-go? I knew something was up with her the whole time!
I mean, the writing wasn’t exactly subtle. But hey, that's part of the fun, right?
The Real MVPs
Let's be real, the real MVPs of this episode (and every episode) are the writers. They manage to balance heartwarming moments with over-the-top action. It’s a skill.
And the prop department! Someone had to find all those toddler-sized emergency vehicles. I hope they got a raise.
Finally, shoutout to anyone who has ever worked in childcare. You are saints.
Final Thoughts (and Maybe a Little More Sass)
Season 3, Episode 5 of 9-1-1: Lone Star was a wild ride, as always. It had everything: danger, romance, and a healthy dose of Texas-sized drama.
The cast, both regular and guest, brought their A-game. But maybe, just maybe, next time let’s focus a little more on the characters we already adore. You know, just a suggestion.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go rewatch some Tarlos scenes. Because priorities.
