Okay, let's talk Railgun T episode one. Specifically, about something maybe *I* noticed, and maybe you did too.
The Return of the Railgun! Or... Was it?
Everyone was hyped for season three, right? Railgun is back! Expect explosions, cool powers, and maybe some sisters being rescued. The usual stuff.
But... episode one felt... a little slow. Like, REALLY slow. I'm going to say it: it might be just me, but the episode was a bit of a snore-fest.
A Sports Festival?! Seriously?
The Academy City sports festival? Don't get me wrong, sports are great. But did we NEED so much sports-fest in our Railgun? It felt like a detour.
I mean, I get it. Slice-of-life elements are important. Character development and all that. But couldn't we have spiced it up a bit?
Maybe a rogue esper attacking the events? A glimpse of something sinister lurking in the shadows? Anything to nudge the plot along a little faster?
Mikoto's Not-So-Electrifying Performance
Misaka Mikoto, the titular Railgun, felt strangely... subdued. Where's the electric energy? Where's the awesome railgun action?
She mostly just ran around and looked cute. Cute is good, don't get me wrong! But this is Railgun, not "Cute Girls Doing Sports Things." (Though that could be a spin-off, I guess...)
I wanted to see her unleash her powers! I wanted to see sparks fly! I wanted a little more *oomph* from my main girl.
The New Character Conundrum
We got introduced to some new characters. Cool. New friends are always welcome!
But did we REALLY need to spend so much time getting to know them in the first episode? It felt like we were being bombarded with introductions.
I found myself zoning out a little during some of those scenes. Sorry, new characters! It's not you, it's me (and my desire for more action).
Unpopular Opinion Incoming...
Here comes the controversial part. Are you ready? I think episode one was... boring. *Gasp!* I said it!
I know, I know. Building suspense is important. Setting the stage for the rest of the season is crucial. And I know they need filler to make sure the anime season can last.
But still! Couldn't they have injected a little more excitement into the premiere? I was expecting a bang, but got a gentle pat instead.
Hope for the Future?
Okay, okay, I'm not giving up on Railgun T! It's still Railgun, after all. And things are bound to get more interesting.
Remember the hype for the Sisters arc. That storyline was intense. Things will probably kick into high gear sooner rather than later.
So, I'm holding onto hope. Maybe episode one was just a necessary evil. A slow burn that will eventually lead to a blazing inferno of awesome anime goodness.
Let's Agree to Disagree?
Maybe you loved episode one! Maybe you thought it was a perfect introduction to the season. And that is fine. I respect your opinion. Mostly.
But I'm just saying... I wanted more. More action, more Mikoto, more railgun-ing!
Let me know if I'm alone in this opinion. Or if you secretly agree with me. We can start a "Railgun T Episode 1 Was Slightly Disappointing" support group.
