Alright, picture this: You're your average, everyday, slightly-oblivious high school student. Then BOOM! A super-hot vampire-esque girl shows up and you suddenly remember you made a promise to her five years ago. That's basically how A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives Episode 1 kicks off!
Forget Amnesia, It's Promise-nesia!
Our main guy, Taito Kurosu, isn’t exactly winning any popularity contests. He's kind of boring and just wants a normal life. The dude doesn’t even remember the past five years! Talk about a rough patch.
Then, enter Himea Saito, a beautiful and mysterious girl. She gives Taito a kiss, which unlocks…memories? Powers? A whole lot of trouble? Yes to all of the above.
It turns out Taito isn't just some random dude. He's got this whole "immortality" thing going on, thanks to a wish he made to Himea five years earlier. Now, he's basically unkillable (seven times, anyway), and Himea is his personal bodyguard, nurse, and reminder of his past life.
School Life Gets a *Slightly* More Complicated
Imagine trying to navigate high school drama when you know you're going to resurrect seven times. Talk about unfair advantages! Taito now has to juggle classes, trying not to get killed, and figuring out what the heck he promised Himea in the first place.
The episode introduces other characters too, some friend, some foe, and some who are probably both. The world's getting bigger, and Taito's life has gone from zero to sixty in about 24 minutes.
And of course, as with any good high school anime, there are quirky characters with secrets! Makes a good watch.
Seven Lives and a Whole Lotta Questions
Episode 1 isn't about answering questions. It's about raising them! Why does Himea stick around? What kind of power does Taito have? What's with that mysterious organization hunting them down?
The episode ends with a cliffhanger that will definitely make you want to binge-watch the rest of the series. Good news for you, you can!
More Than Just Another Anime
What makes this series interesting isn't just the supernatural elements. It’s the characters! Taito's reactions to his crazy new reality are surprisingly relatable and hilarious.
And Himea isn’t just some cookie-cutter "strong female lead." She has depth and a weird sense of humor that makes her stand out.
So, if you're looking for an anime with a unique premise, intriguing characters, and a good dose of action and humor, A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives is worth checking out. Especially this first episode which is really good in explaining the whole thing and making you want to watch more.
Just be prepared for the sudden burst of the unexpected!
