Okay, hear me out. I know, I know. I'm about to say something that might get me staked with a pointy wooden thing. But I need to get this off my chest.
A Farewell? Maybe It's Time.
Is it just me, or is it maybe... time for What We Do in the Shadows to, well, you know...fade into the darkness? Before you sharpen your stakes, let me explain.
Don't get me wrong. I *adore* the show. Those Staten Island vampires brought so much joy into our lives.
The Initial Bite Was the Best
Remember season one? Pure comedic genius. The mockumentary style felt fresh. The characters were instantly iconic.
Nandor's desperate search for a wife! Laszlo's... *ahem*... artistic endeavors! And Nadja's sassy pronouncements. Perfection!
Plus, Guillermo! The long-suffering familiar who just wants to be a vampire! That original dynamic was *chef's kiss*.
Are We Just Sucking the Blood Dry?
But lately, has the show lost a little of its bite? Pun intended, naturally.
It feels like the jokes are getting a little... repetitive. Aren't we just going in circles now?
How many times can Nandor pine after someone? How many times can Laszlo make a dirty joke? I love it, but it feels too familiar.
New Blood (or Lack Thereof)
The problem might be the supporting characters. Remember the Baron Afanas? Great villain! The Guide? Hilarious!
But lately, the new additions haven't quite reached those heights. They don't have the same staying power.
It's hard to introduce new characters that feel essential to the group. Maybe the core four (plus Guillermo!) are just too strong.
The Fear of Overstaying
Here's the thing: so many great shows end up going on for too long. They start to decline in quality.
I'd hate to see What We Do in the Shadows become one of those shows. I want to remember it at its peak.
Wouldn't it be better to end on a high note? Leave us wanting more, rather than feeling like we've had too much garlic?
A Respectful End
Think about it. They could give us a fantastic final season. One that wraps up the characters' storylines in a satisfying way.
Maybe Guillermo finally becomes a vampire! Maybe Nandor finds true love! Maybe Laszlo accidentally burns down the house again!
The possibilities are endless! But let's end it before the possibilities become predictable.
The Unpopular Opinion, Unleashed
So, there it is. My potentially controversial opinion. What We Do in the Shadows is brilliant.
But maybe, just maybe, it's time to let these glorious vampires rest in their (perfectly decorated) coffins.
What do you think? Am I crazy? Or are you starting to feel the same way?
Perhaps a nice stake through my heart will change my mind. But probably not.
