Okay, confession time. I may have rewatched A Love to Last Episode 1 (Eng Sub, of course!) more times than I've had hot dinners.
And I have a very *controversial* opinion about it. Ready? Here it comes...
First Impressions: A Whirlwind!
That first episode? It's like being thrown into a rom-com blender. Bam! Andrea, the Independent Woman™ in New York. Pow! Anton, the responsible dad back in the Philippines.
They clash. They connect. They give us major kilig. Anyone else immediately team Anton or am I all alone?
The Andrea Factor
Look, Andrea is great. Successful, stylish, knows what she wants. But at first, I found her... a little much?
Don’t get me wrong, girl power! But that super-intense, always-in-control vibe? It took me a while to warm up to it.
Maybe it's just me, but I felt like she needed to chill out with a cocktail.
Anton: Instant Likeability
Okay, unpopular opinion number two: Anton is the unsung hero of Episode 1. He is just too adorable.
He's juggling kids, work, and the aftermath of a broken heart. He is my ideal type.
Plus, the way he interacts with his kids? Heart. Melting. Emoji.
That Almost-Kiss!
Let's talk about that scene. You know the one. Airport. Near miss. Almost-kiss.
The tension was thicker than day-old adobo. I screamed. My cat judged me. It was glorious.
Did anyone else immediately start shipping them HARD after that moment? Or was that just me, hopelessly romantic as ever?
Subtitles: The Real MVP
Let's be real: the Eng Sub is the true star. Because, unless you speak Tagalog, you're lost.
Shoutout to the unsung heroes who make these shows accessible to the rest of us. Seriously, you're doing God's work.
We owe you everything. Every laugh, every tear, every moment of swooning.
The Verdict? Addicted.
Even with my slightly critical (okay, maybe judgy) initial impressions of Andrea, A Love to Last grabbed me from the start.
The writing is snappy. The acting is superb. And the chemistry between Bea Alonzo and Ian Veneracion is undeniable.
Episode 1 is the perfect hook. It sucks you in and refuses to let go. Be warned! You'll be binge-watching the rest of the series. You have been warned.
Looking Back: Did I Judge Too Harshly?
Okay, maybe I was a *tad* harsh on Andrea. I've watched the whole series now and she definitely grows on you. A lot.
I still think Anton is a cinnamon roll, though. Fight me.
What were your first impressions of Episode 1? Let me know in the comments! Let's argue about it...nicely.
