Okay, let's talk A Place to Call Home, specifically season three. Buckle up, because some of my opinions might ruffle a few feathers.
The Arrival of Henry Fox
First, Henry Fox. What a complicated character! I mean, was he good? Was he bad? I’m still not entirely sure.
His introduction definitely stirred the pot. It added another layer of drama to the already overflowing pot of drama in Inverness.
Did anyone else find themselves strangely drawn to him, despite his flaws? Maybe it's just me and my bad taste in fictional men.
Sarah and George's Relationship
Let's be honest, Sarah and George were the heart of the show. Their relationship was the stable (mostly!) center in all the chaos.
But sometimes, I wanted to shake them both! Did they ever actually communicate properly?
I know, I know, 1950s Australia. Different times. But a girl can dream of effective communication, right?
The Question of Regina
Now, Regina. Ah, Regina! Was there ever a more consistently…villainous…character?
I secretly loved her! She was like a cat, always scheming and landing on her feet (usually after causing mayhem).
I know I'm probably alone in this. But her deviousness was so entertaining. Don't judge me!
Unexpected Twists and Turns
Season three had some real shockers! Who saw some of those plot twists coming?
I definitely didn't! I spent half the season with my jaw on the floor.
It kept things interesting, even if my blood pressure suffered a bit from all the suspense.
The Costumes! Oh, The Costumes!
Okay, a moment of appreciation for the costumes! Seriously, they were stunning.
The dresses, the suits, the hats! Everyone looked amazing, even when they were being awful to each other.
I'd happily trade my entire wardrobe for Sarah's collection of skirts.
Unpopular Opinion Time
Here's where things might get controversial. Are you ready?
I wasn’t completely sold on the direction some of the storylines took. A few things felt a little… forced.
Please don't hate me! I still enjoyed the season. But I think some characters deserved better.
Overall Thoughts on Season Three
Despite my nitpicks, season three of A Place to Call Home was solid television. It kept me hooked.
The acting was fantastic, the setting was beautiful (if a bit dramatic!), and the characters were compelling, even when they were frustrating.
I mean, who doesn't love a good dose of post-war Australian drama with a side of simmering family secrets?
