Okay, let's talk Frost. Specifically, A Touch of Frost Season 6, Episode 1. "Hidden Truth." Am I the only one who thinks...? Well, let's just say I have some thoughts.
A Case of the "Same Old, Same Old"?
Right off the bat, we're back in Denton. Murders, mysteries, and Frost looking grumpy. Surprise! Just kidding. It's practically the show's tagline.
Another dead body surfaces. It seems this time, it involves a complicated family history. So original! But, did you really watch Frost for groundbreaking originality?
Let's be honest, sometimes it's comforting. It's like visiting your slightly irritating, but ultimately reliable, uncle. You know what you're getting.
The Supporting Cast Shuffle
We've got a new face or two in the station. It seems every season, Denton CID gains and loses officers at an alarming rate. Are the benefits that bad?
It's all part of the police force life. New faces trying to learn the ropes. Frost, of course, is having none of it.
I do enjoy watching him grumble at the newbies. The man truly is a master of passive aggression. Bless his sarcastic heart.
Is It Just Me, Or...?
Here's where my possibly unpopular opinion comes in. Did anyone else find the solution to the case... a bit convenient? It felt like they wrapped it up a little too quickly.
Of course, Frost isn't exactly known for its complex plots. It's more about the journey than the destination. But still...!
Perhaps, the mystery was secondary to showing Frost dealing with personal issues. Let's be honest, he is the main draw.
The Eternal Bachelor
Speaking of personal issues, let’s talk about Frost's love life. Or, rather, the consistent lack thereof. Is he destined to be alone forever?
He gets close, maybe even opens up a little. But then something always goes wrong. It’s the Frost curse. It's sad really.
Is it a defense mechanism? Fear of commitment? Or is he just too busy solving crimes to bother with romance? We may never know.
Final Verdict?
So, "Hidden Truth" wasn't a masterpiece. But it was still Frost. Comforting, predictable, and with just enough twists to keep you watching. Did I enjoy it? Yes, obviously.
Did it blow my mind? Not really. Was I entertained for 90 minutes? Absolutely. I can't ask for too much more. I just wish he will get a partner.
Sometimes, all you need is a familiar detective, a murky crime, and the comforting gloom of Denton. What do you think? Do you agree with my thoughts?
Ultimately, David Jason shines as Frost. Even on the series that starts to show some age, there is still some good detective to watch.
We are always reminded of the quality of the series.
A Touch of Frostcan be a good choice for a slow evening.
