Okay, folks, let’s talk about *American Horror Story: Double Feature* Season 10, Episode 5. Specifically, "Gaslight." Did anyone else feel… underwhelmed? I know, I know, controversial opinion alert!
From Provincetown to… Hollywood?
We’ve left the pale people behind, at least for now. Say goodbye to those creepy teeth and hello to… Hollywood! A place where dreams either come true or get brutally murdered. Which sounds about right for AHS, doesn't it?
Our favorite pill-popping writer, Harry, is now living large in Los Angeles. He's got a script, a fancy house, and a serious addiction problem. Progress?
Ursula: The Agent of Chaos
Let's be real, Ursula is the puppet master pulling all the strings. She’s basically evil incarnate in a power suit. Honestly, I kind of love her.
She’s pushing the pale people pills on everyone. Writers, actors, dog walkers... No one is safe! Imagine your barista suddenly demanding you critique their screenplay. Terrifying.
And speaking of terrifying, we see her using her dark magic to help Alma get into a prestigious school. The level of her evil is just astonishing.
Alma’s Ascent (and Descent?)
Little Alma is growing up fast. She is talented and ambitious... and completely terrifying. Is it the violin lessons, or the taste for human blood? Jury’s still out.
She has successfully used the pill to skip several grades to get to a prestigious school and get a chance to learn from the best. It is still unclear whether she will have a horrible ending as she continues to climb to the top.
Her performance of the violin is just flawless. It is a joy to watch her play, and a terror to think of what she had to do to get there.
The Chemist's Return
Surprise! The Chemist is back, and she's got a new agenda. She shows up at Harry's house, but her intention is to visit Alma. What a crazy meeting!
Apparently, she has a new version of the pill and can't wait to test it on Alma. I don't know what can result from it but I think that it will be something totally crazy.
I suspect she might hold the key to undoing the whole pill situation. Or, you know, making it a whole lot worse. Either way, I'm here for the chaos.
Unpopular Opinion Time!
Okay, here’s my confession: I wasn't blown away by this episode. I missed the eerie atmosphere of Provincetown. The whole Hollywood thing feels… generic? Don't @ me!
The pacing felt a bit off, and some of the plot points felt rushed. I am ready to give it another chance but the first impression was not good at all.
I really hope the season redeems itself, because *American Horror Story* has set the bar so high over the years. I'm clinging to hope! What did you think?
Lingering Questions
So many questions remain! What is the chemist's new pill all about? Will Harry ever kick his habit? And most importantly, will Alma become the world’s most terrifying concert violinist?
And will the pale people ever make a comeback? I kind of miss their creepy, silent judgment. Maybe that is just me.
Until next week, stay spooky, my friends! And maybe avoid taking any mysterious pills you find lying around.
