Apocalypse: Who Was Showing Up For Episode 5? (And My Probably Wrong Opinions)
Okay, let's be real. American Horror Story: Apocalypse was wild. Episode 5, "Boy Wonder," was a total reunion party. But did everyone *actually* slay? Let's dive in.
The Warlocks: Coven Boys Gone...Soft?
We saw our favorite male witches struggling. Billy Porter as Behold Chablis was fabulous, as always. He brought the shade and the spells.
Cheyenne Jackson returned as John Henry Moore. I secretly wished for more fire from him. He felt a bit…underutilized?
And then there was Cody Fern as Michael Langdon. Now, that boy could brood. His puppy-dog eyes almost made me feel sorry for the antichrist. Almost.
The Coven: Still Serving Looks (and Spells)
Sarah Paulson was back as Cordelia Goode. Honestly, Sarah Paulson could read the phone book and I'd be captivated. She's that good.
Emma Roberts reprised Madison Montgomery. I know, I know, she's a mean girl. But who doesn't love a little sassy sorcery?
Taissa Farmiga returned as Zoe Benson. She's always the moral compass, right? Sometimes I wish she'd just throw a hex and call it a day.
And of course, the legendary Lily Rabe graced us as Misty Day. She's everyone's favorite swamp witch. Don't even try to deny it.
The Surprise Guests: Welcome Back!
Frances Conroy as Myrtle Snow? Icon. Legend. The red hair! The pronouncements! Need I say more?
Stevie Nicks showed up…again. Look, I love Stevie. But was her appearance *necessary*? I'm on the fence about this one, I will say I liked her outfits.
The Unsung Heroes (My Unpopular Opinions)
Let's talk about the underdogs. Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and Kyle Allen played Behold's and John Henry’s respective boyfriends. They added some charm.
They helped ground the magical mayhem. I appreciated their presence.
MVP of Episode 5?
Okay, this might be controversial. My MVP is Cody Fern. He owned that screen. He managed to make the antichrist somewhat sympathetic (for a few seconds anyway).
The other actors are amazing but he totally nailed the complex character.
The Verdict: Coven Reunion Bliss?
Episode 5 was a feast for the eyes. So many familiar faces! So much witchy drama!
Maybe some characters could have been utilized better. But overall, it was a solid episode. It got me hyped for the rest of the season. Bring on the apocalypse!
What did you think about this episode? Did you love the return of *all* the Coven ladies? Or did some feel a bit…forced? Let's discuss!
