Okay, let's talk Anne with an E. We all love it. The costumes! The scenery! Anne Shirley-Cuthbert herself! But let’s be real. Some episodes are just…better than others.
Season 1: The One That Started It All
"Your Will Shall Decide Your Destiny" (Episode 1)
The very first episode! We meet Anne. We see Green Gables. We fall instantly in love. How could you not? Seriously, a perfect intro. No complaints here.
"I Am No Bird, and No Net Ensnares Me" (Episode 2)
This one’s a little…heavy. Anne dealing with the orphanage. It's important, sure. But also, a bit of a downer, right?
"But What Is So Headstrong as Youth?" (Episode 3)
Accidental wine incident! Classic Anne! This is where she starts making mistakes. Entertaining mistakes, of course.
"An Inward Treasure Born" (Episode 4)
Learning to be a proper young lady? Snooze-fest! Sorry, not sorry. Give me the drama, not the etiquette lessons!
"Tightly Knitted Things" (Episode 5)
The brooch incident! Marilla's a bit harsh, don’t you think? I mean, accidents happen!
"Remembrance Has Heartache Enough" (Episode 6)
Matthew gets sick. This one pulls at the heartstrings. Bring on the tissues!
"Where Your Treasure Is, There Will Your Heart Be Also" (Episode 7)
Anne saves Minnie May! Heroic Anne is best Anne. Definitely a highlight of the season.
Season 2: Growing Up, Kind Of
"Youth Is the Season of Hope" (Episode 1)
New school! New adventures! New kids! This episode sets the tone for a season of change. I am here for it!
"Signs Are Small Measurable Things, but Interpretations Are Illimitable" (Episode 2)
Bash and Gilbert! Their friendship warms my heart. We love to see it.
"The Growing Good of the World Is Partly Dependent on Unhistoric Acts" (Episode 3)
Trying to fit in. We’ve all been there, Anne. Even if we haven’t poisoned anyone with liniment cake.
"What We Have Been Makes Us What We Are" (Episode 4)
The backstory episode. Learning more about everyone’s past. Gets a bit slow, if you ask me.
"The Determining Acts of Her Life" (Episode 5)
School drama intensifies! Gilbert and Anne! Anne and Josie Pye! It's all happening!
"I Protest Against Any Absolute Conclusion" (Episode 6)
Exploring indigenous history and culture. Important, and beautifully done. This one hits hard. Absolutely unforgettable.
"Memory Grieves, but the Good Years Come" (Episode 7)
The fair! Fun times! Anne being her adorable, quirky self. A breather before the drama hits again.
"There Is Something at Work in My Soul, Which I Do Not Understand" (Episode 8)
Gilbert is sick! Everyone panics! The tension is palpable. Plus, can you imagine not having medical insurance?
"Look Closely All Around You" (Episode 9)
The gold mine! A bit of a detour, right? But it does lead to some character development. I just wish that was developed more.
"The Line Which Separates Good and Evil Cuts Through the Heart of Every Human Being" (Episode 10)
The season finale! So much happens! So much angst! Anne and Gilbert's non-romance. We were all holding our breaths.
Season 3: The Final Chapter
"A Secret Which I Desired to Divine" (Episode 1)
Finding out about her parents. A big moment for Anne. The journey of self-discovery begins.
"The Better Feeling of My Heart" (Episode 2)
College is on the horizon! Anne is growing up so fast! Someone is cutting onions in here.
"What Can Stop the Determined Heart" (Episode 3)
Ka'kwet's storyline. Powerful and heartbreaking. The actors are amazing!
"A Hope of Meeting You in Another World" (Episode 4)
Trying new things! Exploring new cultures! This episode is all about broadening horizons.
"Great Is My Affliction" (Episode 5)
Facing prejudices. Difficult but important to watch. This show never shies away from tough topics.
"The Ugliness of Human Nature" (Episode 6)
This is where things get really intense. Heart-wrenching scenes. Be prepared for tears.
"A Strong Imagination Bites" (Episode 7)
The search for Ka'kwet. Hope and despair intertwine. So many feels!
"I Am Fearless and Therefore Powerful" (Episode 8)
The series finale! Bittersweet. Anne and Gilbert finally admitting their feelings! But also, the show is over! It's a tough one.
