Okay, let's talk Black Butler: Book of Murders Part 2. You know, the one everyone seems to adore?
Don't get me wrong, it's Black Butler. I'm already halfway there.
The Case of the Slightly Overrated Climax
The whole locked room mystery vibe? Chef's kiss. But did anyone else feel the payoff... well, a little underwhelming?
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I expected a bigger bang.
The Suspects: A Gallery of Eccentrics
The suspects were fantastic. Seriously, each character was delightfully quirky.
From the flamboyant undertaker to the stoic Sebastian, they all brought something to the table. Or, you know, the murder scene.
Even Ciel was on top form. His cleverness really shone in this arc.
But... and here's where I might lose some friends... did anyone REALLY suspect anyone other than who it ended up being?
It felt a tad predictable, right?
Sebastian: Demon Butler, Endearing Enigma
Okay, full disclosure. I'm a Sebastian fangirl.
Sue me. He's charming, witty, and can make a mean cup of tea. And probably dispose of a body without breaking a sweat.
But even he felt a little... toned down? Less devilish, more doting.
He’s still perfect, of course. Just...perfect in a slightly less exciting way.
Don’t tell anyone I said that.
The Unpopular Opinion Parade
I know, I know. This arc is considered a masterpiece by many.
And it IS good. Objectively. The animation is gorgeous. The voice acting is superb. It’s Black Butler!
But compared to other arcs? The circus arc? The Atlantic arc? It felt... less impactful.
Maybe the stakes didn’t feel high enough? Maybe the mystery wasn't twisty enough?
A Matter of Taste (and Maybe a Little Bias)
Listen, art is subjective. What thrills one person might bore another.
Maybe I went in with expectations that were too high. Maybe I just wanted MORE Sebastian being, well, a demon.
Or maybe, just maybe, I'm a contrarian who likes to stir the pot.
Whatever the reason, I’m prepared to defend my slightly-less-than-glowing opinion.
Bring on the arguments! (But please be nice, I bruise easily.)
Ultimately, Book of Murders Part 2 is still a fun watch. It's still Black Butler after all.
But did it live up to the hype? For me? A solid "meh."
There, I said it!
