Okay, let's talk Erased (or Boku Dake ga Inai Machi if you're feeling fancy). Specifically, episode 11. Buckle up, buttercups, because I have some THOUGHTS.
I know, I know. Everyone loses their minds over this show. But hear me out before you grab your pitchforks and torches!
The "Big Reveal"
So, episode 11. The big KAYO reveal, right? Satoru wakes up from his coma. Surprise! Time has passed. Blah, blah, blah.
Honestly? It felt a bit…underwhelming. Is that just me? The build-up was massive. The potential was HUGE.
A Tad Predictable?
Maybe it's because I binge-watched it. Or maybe I'm just a jaded anime watcher. But the whole thing felt kinda predictable. It was supposed to be a heart-wrenching reunion, right?
Instead, I was just thinking, "Yep. Saw that coming." Anyone else feel this way? Please tell me I'm not alone!
Kayo is married, has a kid. I get it. Life goes on. But did they really have to make the kid look EXACTLY like Satoru? Talk about awkward family dinners!
The Relationship Vibes
Here's the thing. I wasn't entirely convinced by the whole Satoru and Kayo connection. I mean, it's cute. They have a bond. But soulmates? I'm not so sure.
Am I the only one who low-key shipped Satoru with Airi? She was always there for him. Loyal. Believing.
Plus, Airi is just adorable. Don't @ me.
Justice for Airi!
Seriously, she deserved better than being relegated to the "helpful friend" role. That poor girl went through so much! She faced down the cops! She helped Satoru while he was on the run.
And what does she get? A thank you? A pat on the head? Justice for Airi! That's what I say!
The Villain's Masterplan
Let’s not forget the teacher. Classic anime villain. Manipulative, creepy…all the good stuff.
The whole “chess game” analogy was a bit heavy-handed, wasn't it? We get it. He's smart. He's playing Satoru.
It just felt a little too…on the nose. Maybe I’m just nitpicking at this point.
But the teacher planned all of this because... why again? I may have missed something? He wanted to make the most intelligent kid to defeat him? So he can kill him after all the trouble he did?
Let's not get into the philosophical reasons behind his madness. I'm just trying to remember his overall masterplan at this point of the story.
Unpopular Opinion Time!
Okay, here it is. My unpopular opinion: Episode 11 of Erased wasn't the masterpiece everyone makes it out to be. There, I said it.
It was good. Fine. Entertaining. But not mind-blowing. Not the emotional rollercoaster everyone described.
Please don't hate me! I still enjoyed the show! Just…not as much as everyone else seemed to.
Maybe my expectations were too high. Maybe I need to rewatch it. Or maybe…just maybe…I have a point.
What do you think? Was episode 11 a masterpiece? Or am I just a crazy person who needs to watch more sunshine and rainbows anime?
Let me know in the comments! But be nice! Remember, we're all friends here. Even if you disagree with my (totally valid and reasonable) opinion.
