And then there's January Jones as Melissa Shart. She’s the cool one, the one with the edgy style and the "seen-it-all" attitude. Melissa brings a dose of reality (and sarcasm) to the group, which is definitely needed when Phil's around.
Don't forget Mary Steenburgen as Gail Klosterman! She’s the sophisticated, wine-loving member of the crew. She’s basically everyone's dream apocalypse buddy. Who wouldn't want someone around who knows how to pair a good Merlot with a questionable can of beans?
Finally, we have Cleopatra Coleman as Erica Dundee. She's strong, independent, and incredibly resourceful. Erica is the kind of person you'd want by your side when facing down a zombie horde (or, you know, just dealing with Phil's shenanigans).

And of course, Jason Sudeikis graced us with his presence as Mike Miller, Phil's astronaut brother! Mike is everything Phil isn't: responsible, capable, and generally not a total disaster. He brings a sense of groundedness to the show.
Why This Cast Worked So Well
