Okay, deep breath everyone. The trailer for the Daisy Jones & The Six show is finally here. And... well, I have some thoughts.
Shiny, Happy People (Or Are They?)
The clothes? Absolutely gorgeous. The hair? I want it all. The music? Catchy, for sure.
But something feels...off. Maybe it's just me, but the whole thing feels a little too polished, a little too perfect. Like a carefully curated Instagram feed.
Is that even possible for a band in the 70's?
My Unpopular Opinion (Brace Yourselves)
Here it comes. Prepare to disagree. I think Riley Keough looks amazing as Daisy. Absolutely stunning.
But does she *feel* like Daisy Jones? I'm not entirely convinced yet. Show me the wild abandon, the barely-contained chaos!
I want to see the raw, unfiltered energy of a rock goddess on the edge. Not a perfectly posed rock star.
And Sam Claflin as Billy Dunne? Hot, no doubt. Can he deliver the tortured artist vibe, though? Only time will tell.
The glimpses of their chemistry are promising. That's true. But, I need more angst! More internal conflict! More brooding in dimly lit rooms!
The Music: Is It Authentic?
The snippets of original music sound...good. Very good, even. But do they sound like a legendary 70s band?
Again, a tiny bit too slick, a tiny bit too clean. Where's the grit? Where's the rawness? Where's the feeling that it could all fall apart at any second?
Maybe I'm just being picky. Maybe I'm romanticizing the 70s. Maybe I'm just craving something a little less…predictable.
"Maybe we're all just craving something real," - said someone, somewhere, probably.
The Drama: Will It Be Enough?
The trailer hints at all the classic rock 'n' roll tropes. Drugs, sex, rivalry, love triangles. Yawn.
I hope the show dives deeper than just the surface level drama. I want to see the complexities of these characters. Their motivations, their fears, their vulnerabilities.
Give me the messy, the uncomfortable, the heartbreaking. Give me the real stuff!
I want to understand why Daisy and Billy are drawn to each other, even though they seem destined to self-destruct.
Will I Watch? (Spoiler Alert: Yes)
Despite my reservations, I'm absolutely going to watch the show. I'm a sucker for a good rock 'n' roll story. And the costumes are just too fabulous to resist.
Plus, I'm secretly hoping to be proven wrong. I want to be blown away by Keough and Claflin's performances. I want to be transported back to the 70s.
I want to believe that Daisy Jones & The Six were the greatest band the world has ever seen. Even if it's just for ten episodes.
So, bring on the drama, bring on the music, bring on the bell bottoms! I'm ready (sort of).
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to buy some vintage-inspired sunglasses and practice my tambourine skills. You know, just in case.
