Okay, let’s talk about Dakaretai Otoko 1-i Ni Odosarete Imasu. You know, that BL anime and manga thing? And now a movie! A movie we all supposedly love.
But here’s my confession: I... might not be *totally* obsessed. Please don't throw tomatoes!
The Hype Train: Choo Choo?
Look, I get it. Takato Saijo is hot. Junta Azumaya is even hotter, and ridiculously devoted. Who wouldn’t want a piece of that?
The animation is gorgeous, the voice acting is amazing, and the plot is... well, it's certainly something. Let’s be honest, it’s dramatic and a little (okay, a lot) over-the-top.
The forced proximity and possessive nature is a bit much for me. I know it's fiction, but real life shouldn't imitate *that* kind of art.
Unpopular Opinion Incoming!
Am I the only one who thinks Takato can be a bit of a diva? I said it! He’s got the whole “tsundere” thing going on, but sometimes it feels a little... much?
He pushes Junta away, then gets jealous when someone else looks at him. It's exhausting to watch sometimes.
And Junta? He's basically a golden retriever in human form. Adorable, yes, but also... a little *too* perfect? No flaws?
The Movie: More of the Same... Mostly
So, the movie. Did it change my mind? Not really.
It's got all the elements we expect: beautiful animation, steamy scenes (of course!), and more angst than a teenage poet. It’s basically a long episode with a bigger budget.
I appreciate the exploration of their relationship, especially their insecurities. Takato is slowly but surely showing his vulnerability. Progress!
But that doesn't change the core dynamic. The power imbalance is still there, simmering beneath the surface. Just a little.
Okay, Fine, It’s Pretty Good… But…
Don't get me wrong! I enjoyed aspects of the movie. The side characters are fantastic, and the humor is genuinely funny.
Seeing Takato and Junta travel and face new challenges was enjoyable. The animation during those scenes was superb.
And yes, those *certain scenes* were… impactful. Fine! I admit it! The animation is *very* good.
Ultimately…
Maybe I'm just not the target audience. Or maybe I'm just a contrarian. Who knows?
Perhaps I secretly wish someone as devoted as Junta would chase after me. Don’t tell anyone I said that!
But all joking aside, Dakaretai Otoko 1-i Ni Odosarete Imasu is undeniably popular for a reason. It hits a lot of right notes for a lot of people.
But me? I'm still on the fence. Give me a different kind of BL, maybe something a little less… intense.
So, what's *your* unpopular opinion about this series? Let's discuss!
Or just throw tomatoes. I'm ready.
