Demon Slayer's New Opening: Hot Take Time!
Okay, okay, settle down Demon Slayer fans! We need to talk about the Entertainment District Arc opening.
It's flashy, it's loud, it's...well, is it just me, or is it *too* much?
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
I'm bracing myself for the inevitable downpour of comments. But here it goes: I think the first season's opening was better!
Don't get me wrong, Aimer is fantastic. And the animation is, of course, gorgeous.
But something about "Gurenge" just hit different, you know? It had that raw emotion.
The new opening feels like a sugar rush. A beautiful, meticulously crafted sugar rush, but a sugar rush nonetheless.
The Flash vs. The Feels
Maybe I'm just old. Maybe I'm yearning for the simpler times of Tanjiro carrying Nezuko around in a box.
The new opening definitely screams "Entertainment District!" There's neon! There's glitter! There's scantily clad demons!
It's a visual feast. My brain is happy but my heart is...a little less so?
The Characters, Though!
Okay, I can't deny that seeing Tengen Uzui in all his flamboyant glory is pretty epic.
And the glimpses of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke geared up for a night on the town? Hilarious!
Inosuke in disguise is always pure gold. I could watch that on repeat for hours.
The Music, Part 2: The Remix
I've listened to the full version of the opening song a few times now. It’s growing on me, like a catchy but slightly annoying jingle.
It's like that one song you hate but can't stop humming. You know the one.
Maybe after a few more rewatches, I'll be fully converted. But for now, I stand by my (potentially) controversial opinion.
Gurenge Forever?
Look, "Gurenge" set the bar ridiculously high. It was an instant classic. A karaoke staple!
It's tough to follow up something like that. It's like trying to out-pizza the Hut. Impossible!
So maybe it's not that the new opening is bad. Maybe it's just not "Gurenge"-level amazing.
Let's Be Real...
Who am I kidding? I'm still going to watch every episode of the Entertainment District Arc. Multiple times.
I’ll be glued to the screen, even if the opening doesn't quite give me the same feels.
Because Demon Slayer is awesome, regardless. It's the story, the characters, the animation...it's all just so good!
Final Verdict (For Now)
So, the Entertainment District Arc opening? Good. Very good. But not "Gurenge" good.
