Benny: Gone Too Soon? (Maybe Not!)
Okay, let's talk about Benny. Did he bite the dust on The Haves and the Have Nots? Seems like it. But, hold on a minute. I've got a slightly controversial take.
I'm not entirely convinced Benny's demise was a tragedy. Hear me out! We all love drama, right?
The Case for "Good Riddance" (Don't @ Me!)
Benny wasn't exactly winning any awards for "Most Upstanding Citizen." He was constantly getting mixed up in trouble. Plus, the writing was, shall we say, dramatic.
His storylines often felt like filler. He was either getting kidnapped or being incredibly dumb. Sometimes both at the same time!
Was he truly essential to the show's core? I'm not so sure. Did he bring a unique flair that no one else could? Debatable.
"But He Was Part of the Family!"
I understand the sentiment! He was Candace's brother. But Candace had enough drama to fill five lifetimes on her own.
And let's be honest, Benny's constant need for rescuing became a bit… tedious. Like a puppy who always chases cars.
You just knew something bad was going to happen. Every. Single. Episode.
Plot Convenience: A Killer in Disguise
Sometimes, a character's death is just what the story needs. A little shake-up. A way to move things along.
Benny's death potentially injected fresh angst into the series. Maybe it sparked some changes.
Though, let's be honest again, the show was already overflowing with angst. More like adding gasoline to a bonfire!
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
I'm saying it! Benny's character arc had run its course. He did his time. Maybe even a little extra time.
Could they have done more with him? Perhaps. But did they *want* to? Apparently not. And honestly, I get it.
It's a tough world. Tyler Perry's world, especially. Only the strong survive… or the dramatically interesting.
Could He Still Be Alive? (Probably Not, But…)
Soap operas are notorious for bringing characters back from the dead. Could Benny reappear with amnesia? Stranger things have happened.
But, given the context of his, ahem, "departure," it seems unlikely. R.I.P. Benny. Or maybe, good riddance?
I'm bracing for the backlash. But hey, someone had to say it!
The Verdict: A Necessary Sacrifice?
So, was Benny's death a tragedy? Maybe for Candace. Definitely for his love interest, if he had one.
But for the show as a whole? Possibly a calculated risk that paid off (or at least didn't hurt too much).
And that's my (probably wildly unpopular) opinion! What do you think?
"Was Benny a necessary evil?" - Probably someone on Twitter.
