The whole Fuuma Clan backstory? It felt a bit convoluted. All those names and relationships, it was hard to keep track!
I felt like they were trying to cram too much into a limited space. Maybe it would have been better as a full series?
And the pacing! One minute we're having a touching family moment, the next we're in a full-blown ninja battle. Whiplash, anyone?
Character Conundrums
While I adore the Kumo brothers, I found the new characters in this Gaiden a little… bland. I just didn’t connect with them.
They felt like they were there to serve the plot, rather than being fully realized individuals. Sacrilege, I know!
Maybe I'm just too attached to Tenka's irresistible charisma.

Okay, the fight scenes were admittedly cool. Who doesn't love a good ninja brawl? Swords clashing, elemental powers, the works!
But even those started to feel a little repetitive after a while. More style than substance, perhaps?
