Donten Ni Warau Gaiden Shukumei Soutou No Fuuma

Okay, let’s talk about something that might get me some side-eye. Donten ni Warau Gaiden: Shukumei, Soutou no Fuuma. Yeah, that one.

I know, I know. Everyone loves the Donten ni Warau universe. Adorable brothers, historical setting, cool action... what's not to love?

Fuuma Fiasco?

But honestly, did Shukumei, Soutou no Fuuma really live up to the hype? I have my doubts. Don't get me wrong, the animation is pretty.

The music? Top-notch. But something about the story just... didn't click for me. Am I alone here?

The whole Fuuma Clan backstory? It felt a bit convoluted. All those names and relationships, it was hard to keep track!

I felt like they were trying to cram too much into a limited space. Maybe it would have been better as a full series?

And the pacing! One minute we're having a touching family moment, the next we're in a full-blown ninja battle. Whiplash, anyone?

While I adore the Kumo brothers, I found the new characters in this Gaiden a little… bland. I just didn’t connect with them.

They felt like they were there to serve the plot, rather than being fully realized individuals. Sacrilege, I know!

Maybe I'm just too attached to Tenka's irresistible charisma.

Okay, the fight scenes were admittedly cool. Who doesn't love a good ninja brawl? Swords clashing, elemental powers, the works!

But even those started to feel a little repetitive after a while. More style than substance, perhaps?

Maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy. I need more emotionally driven scenes and less fighting.

Look, I'm not saying Shukumei, Soutou no Fuuma is bad. It's perfectly watchable. But it’s not the masterpiece everyone makes it out to be.

It feels like a decent side story, nothing more. Something to tide us over until the next big Donten ni Warau installment.

Is it just me, or did anyone else feel underwhelmed? Please tell me I’m not the only one who thought it was just… okay.

Maybe my expectations were too high. All the hype got to me.

So, call me crazy. Call me a heretic. But I stand by my lukewarm feelings.

Give me more Tenka being a lovable goofball, and less complicated ninja politics!

Ultimately, it's subjective. If you loved it, great! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

But if you're on the fence, don't feel pressured to think it's the best thing since sliced bread.
