Okay, let's talk about Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Specifically, the English sub version. We all watched it, right? Or are you one of *those* people who waited for the dub? No judgment... okay, maybe a little.
The Good Stuff (and There Was a Lot!)
The animation? Chef's kiss! Seriously, that 3D style was surprisingly good. I was worried at first, but it really popped. Gohan looked fantastic, especially when he went... you know... Beast.
Piccolo getting some serious screen time? About time! He's always been the unsung hero. My unpopular opinion? He's secretly cooler than Goku. Don't @ me.
The humor was on point too. Krillin's cop antics? Perfect. The awkward family dynamics between Gohan, Videl, and Pan? Relatable. Even if you're not fighting androids, family can be weird.
The Not-So-Good (Hear Me Out)
But... (yes, there's a "but"). Did anyone else feel like the main villain was a little... underwhelming? Cell Max was big, sure. But kind of dumb? Like a giant, green, angry baby.
And honestly, where were Goku and Vegeta for most of the movie? Training with Beerus? Again? It felt like they were deliberately sidelined. Like the writers were saying, "Okay, guys, it's *their* turn."
Which, I get it. Gohan and Piccolo needed their moment. And they definitely delivered. But still, a little more Saiyan action wouldn't have hurt.
The English Sub Experience
Now, the English subtitles. Generally good! Accurate, easy to read. No complaints there. But... did anyone else chuckle at some of the translations?
Sometimes the overly dramatic dialogue just sounds funnier in English. Especially when it's paired with such intense animation. "I will protect you!"... delivered with maximum screaming energy. It's gold, Jerry, gold!
I will say though, Pan's voice was so cute! I wanted to keep listening her all day!
The Unpopular Opinion Zone
Okay, prepare yourselves. Here's where I get controversial. I think this movie is... slightly overrated. There, I said it.
Don't get me wrong, it's a good Dragon Ball movie. But is it a *great* Dragon Ball movie? I'm not so sure. Maybe my expectations were too high.
I enjoyed it for the nostalgia, the action, and the humor. But the plot felt a little thin. And the villain? Let's just say he won't be replacing Frieza anytime soon.
Ultimately,Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is a fun ride. And seeing Gohan and Piccolo shine was a definite highlight. But let's be honest, we're mostly here for the screaming and the Kamehamehas. Right?
So, grab your senzu beans, settle in, and enjoy. Just maybe don't expect it to be the best Dragon Ball movie ever. It's good. Just... good. And sometimes, that's enough. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to rewatch Gohan Beast's transformation scene. Because that was undeniably awesome.
