Okay, let's be honest. We all waited impatiently for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. The hype was real.
Then it finally dropped online. Did it live up? That's… debatable.
The CGI: Shiny, but...
The first thing everyone talked about? The CGI. It looked… different. Super shiny. Like everyone had just been buffed with a layer of future-wax.
Was it bad? Not necessarily. But, I miss the hand-drawn style. There's just something about that classic look, you know?
Maybe I'm just old. Maybe I need to embrace the robots. But I kinda miss the scribbly lines.
Gohan's Glow-Up
Alright, Gohan fans rejoice! He finally got his due! The "Beast" form? Totally epic.
I mean, Gohan was always the one with potential. Remember how he almost beat Cell? Good times.
But was it a little… sudden? Did he just happen to find that inner power while Piccolo was getting his butt kicked?
Piccolo: MVP (Again)
Speaking of Piccolo, that Namekian is a legend. He raised Gohan. He takes on the Red Ribbon Army (again!).
Honestly, Piccolo deserves a lifetime supply of senzu beans. He's constantly saving the world. And usually without thanks.
And Orange Piccolo? Hilariously awesome. Just imagine him ordering a pizza with that voice.
The Red Ribbon Army: Still at It?
Seriously? The Red Ribbon Army *again*? Haven't they learned their lesson by now?
They're like that one friend who keeps making the same bad decisions. You love 'em, but you're also kinda shaking your head.
At least they provided a good reason for Gohan to power up. I guess we can thank them for that?
The Villain Problem (An Unpopular Opinion)
Okay, here's where I might lose some of you. The villains, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2? They were… fine.
Cool designs. Interesting backstory. But were they truly *threatening*? I don't know…
They felt more like misguided robots than actual evil masterminds. Maybe that's the point? Still…
Cell Max: Bigger Doesn't Mean Better?
And then there's Cell Max. A giant, uncontrollable beast. Pure power.
But also… kind of boring? Remember the original Cell? He was cunning, manipulative, and genuinely terrifying.
Cell Max just smashed things. Lots of smashing. Visually impressive, sure. But lacking that… *oomph*.
The Humor: On Point
One thing Super Hero nailed? The humor. The banter between characters was hilarious.
Especially Piccolo being forced into awkward situations. Classic.
Dragon Ball has always had a good sense of humor, and this movie leaned into it perfectly.
Overall: Fun, But...
So, where does that leave us? Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was a fun movie. It was visually impressive (for the most part).
It gave Gohan and Piccolo some much-deserved spotlight. But… something felt missing.
Maybe it was the villains. Maybe it was the CGI. Or maybe, just maybe, I'm being too picky. Either way, good entertainment!
Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to go rewatch the Cell Saga. For research purposes, of course.
