Okay, Hear Me Out: Season 7 of Dragon Ball Z on Blu-ray Is…Underrated?
Let's be real. Everyone loves Dragon Ball Z. The screaming, the powering up, the hair. It's all iconic.
But, I'm going to say something possibly controversial. I think Season 7 on Blu-ray gets a bad rap.
The Buu Saga Begins…Sort Of
Sure, it's the start of the Majin Buu saga. And yes, it's… different. But is different always bad?
Think about it. We're getting introduced to new characters. Goten! Trunks! They're adorable tiny Super Saiyans!
Plus, Gohan is in high school. High school! I maintain that "Great Saiyaman" is peak DBZ comedy. Fight me.
Blu-ray Goodness: Shine On, You Crazy Diamond
The real reason to revisit Season 7 is the Blu-ray treatment. Everything looks so crisp and vibrant.
Remember those fuzzy old VHS tapes? Those days are gone! Now you can see every bead of sweat on Vegeta's brow. Intense!
Seriously, the colours pop. The energy blasts practically leap off the screen. It’s like watching it for the first time, all over again.
The Filler…I'll Defend It (A Little)
Okay, okay, there's filler. Lots of filler. But is ALL filler inherently evil?
Some of it is actually...charming? We get to see the characters just, you know, living. Goku farming! Chi-Chi yelling! Classic!
And let's be honest, sometimes you just want to relax. Not every episode needs to be an earth-shattering battle. Sometimes, slice-of-life works.
The World Tournament: Surprisingly Great
The World Tournament arc is a highlight. We get some genuinely fun fights.
Piccolo vs. Shin is short, but sweet. And who can forget the antics of Mighty Mask? Pure gold, I tell you.
It's a nice breather before the utter chaos that is Majin Buu. Consider it a palate cleanser of martial arts mayhem.
Unpopular Opinion Time: The Buu Saga Isn't THAT Bad
I know, I know. The Buu saga is often ranked lower than the Frieza or Cell sagas.
But I think it's got heart. It's got humour. It's got a giant pink blob that turns people into candy. What's not to love?
And Season 7 is the gateway. You can’t have Buu without it. It sets the stage. It builds the hype.
So, Give It Another Shot!
Maybe I'm just nostalgic. Maybe I'm delusional. But I genuinely enjoy Season 7 on Blu-ray.
The visual upgrade is fantastic. The characters are still awesome. And the beginning of the Buu saga has its moments.
So, next time you're looking for a DBZ binge, don't skip it. Give it a chance. You might just be surprised.
And hey, even if you hate it, at least it looks pretty on Blu-ray, right? Worth it for that alone, I say!
