Okay, let's talk about Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. And its home on Disney Plus. Anyone else feel like it’s the awkward cousin at the family reunion?
Don't get me wrong, I *love* the Harry Potter universe. I even defended Crimes of Grindelwald (a little). But Secrets of Dumbledore… it’s got problems.
A Secret...ly Confusing Plot
So, Grindelwald wants to take over the world. Dumbledore can't directly fight him because, you know, blood pacts are a buzzkill. Got it.
Then comes a whole bunch of...stuff. Beasts! Portkeys! Political maneuvering that would bore even the most dedicated Hufflepuff. I swear, I needed a flowchart.
And the whole election thing? Was that supposed to be thrilling? I think I fell asleep for a bit there.
Newt Scamander: Still Just Here for the Animals
Newt, bless his heart, is still more interested in his creatures than the fate of the wizarding world. Which, honestly, same.
The scorpion dance? Adorable. But did it really move the plot forward? Debatable.
He is the reason why I still watch the movie, that and the fact that it's **Harry Potter** and I'm a fan. I'm not strong enough to quit.
Disney Plus: The Unexpected Home
Now, Secrets of Dumbledore chilling on Disney Plus is just...weird. It's like finding out your grandma has a secret tattoo.
Isn't this the platform for Mickey Mouse and princesses? Where's my wand-waving, child-friendly magic? Oh wait.
It does make it easier to rewatch those... scorpion dance scenes. So, silver linings, I guess.
And my nephews love watching it! So I don't have to feel guilty for having to pay for Disney Plus.
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
Here's where I get brave. I think Secrets of Dumbledore is... fine. Not great, not terrible. Just...fine.
The acting is good. The visuals are stunning. But the story is just...meh.
I have a strong feeling that this movie should have stayed in the oven a bit longer. The ideas were all there, but the execution was lackluster.
Sorry, not sorry! I expected more from this.
The Verdict
Should you watch Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore on Disney Plus? Maybe. If you're a completionist like me.
Lower your expectations, appreciate the pretty visuals, and try not to think too hard about the plot. Think about the scorpions!
And hey, at least it's not as bad as Crimes of Grindelwald. Right?
"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." - Albus Dumbledore (Ironically, this movie needs more light).
Maybe the *real* secrets of Dumbledore are just... boring? Or maybe I'm just being cynical. Either way, I'm still going to watch the next one. I can't help myself.
