Fictional Characters Miss Kobayashis Dragon Maid Tohru

Okay, hear me out. Everyone loves Tohru from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, right? I mean, how can you not? She’s adorable, powerful, and devoted.

But, and this is a big but, am I the only one who finds her *slightly* overwhelming sometimes? Just a little teeny tiny bit?

Unpopular Opinion Time!

Don't get me wrong. I adore Tohru. Her enthusiasm is infectious. She's fiercely loyal to Kobayashi. I mean, who wouldn't want a dragon girlfriend who does the laundry?

However, imagine her actually living with you. Every. Single. Day. The tail-flavored cooking. The constant need to prove her worth. The occasional, you know, dragon-y mishaps.

It's a lot! A *lot* of dragon energy to handle.

The Tail Conundrum

Let's talk about the tail. I know, I know, it's a delicacy in the dragon world. But could you really stomach eating a piece of your friend's, um, rear end?

I appreciate the offer, Tohru. Truly, I do. But I'll stick with a sandwich, thanks.

Plus, imagine the conversations with your actual human friends. "Yeah, so my roommate, who's a dragon, keeps offering me her tail meat. It's…an experience."

The Kobayashi Complex

Tohru’s devotion to Kobayashi is sweet. It's arguably the core of the entire show. But sometimes, her need to please feels almost…suffocating.

I get it, unrequited love is hard. You want to show your appreciation. But maybe, just maybe, Kobayashi needs a little space to breathe.

Imagine never having a moment to yourself because your dragon girlfriend is constantly trying to anticipate your every need. Where's the time to binge watch your favorite shows?!

Dragon-Sized Problems

And let's not forget the occasional accidental destruction. A stray fireball here. A slightly too enthusiastic hug there. Living with a dragon comes with a certain level of risk.

Sure, Tohru is usually good at controlling her powers. But accidents happen. And when those accidents involve fire and scales, things can get messy fast.

Who's gonna explain to the insurance company that a dragon was responsible for the hole in the roof? "Act of God? More like Act of Dragon!"

Still Love Her, Though

Despite all this, I still think Tohru is a fantastic character. Her heart is in the right place. She genuinely wants to make Kobayashi's life better.

And she's undeniably hilarious. Those moments of pure, unadulterated dragon awkwardness are gold.

My point isn't that Tohru is a bad character. It's just that, maybe, living with her in real life would be a bit…intense. Maybe a weekend visit would be ideal.

So, yeah, there it is. My slightly unpopular opinion on Tohru. Am I alone in feeling this way? Or are there others out there who secretly crave a *slightly* less enthusiastic dragon roommate?
