First off, Erina Nakiri. Girl is scary. I mean, she's got the God Tongue and can destroy your culinary dreams with a single sniff. I wouldn't want to be on her bad side.
And Souma? Completely unfazed. This kid has the nerve of steel. Respect.
Souma's "Totally Awesome" Egg Dish
This egg dish... is it just me, or does it sound kind of gross at first? Rice, gelatin, and onions? It's certainly... creative. He basically made egg pudding.
But hey, the presentation was on point! And apparently, it tastes pretty amazing. Maybe I'm missing out.

Here's where my unpopular opinion comes in: I actually thought the animation during her foodgasm wasn't as over-the-top as it could have been. Don't get me wrong, it was still pretty extra, but later seasons get way more…expressive.

Then, BOOM. Souma gets enrolled at Totsuki Culinary Academy. Talk about a rollercoaster.
I secretly cheered when he basically flipped off Erina. Someone had to do it.

The Dubbed Dialogue: Hit or Miss?
Okay, now for the dub itself. Overall, I think it’s pretty solid. The voice actors do a good job of capturing the characters' personalities.
But sometimes, the dialogue feels a little…forced. Like they're trying too hard to be funny or dramatic. Anyone else feel that?
Still, better than having to pause every two seconds to read subtitles. Especially when there is such great food to focus on!

Episode 2 of *Food Wars!* is fantastic. It really sets the stage for the rest of the series.
The rivalry between Souma and Erina is iconic. The food is mouthwatering (even the weird egg dish).
Another unpopular opinion? I actually like the opening theme song more in Japanese. Don't @ me.
