Okay, let's talk Slime. Specifically, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. We all know it, many love it. But I'm here to whisper some slightly controversial thoughts.
I'm not saying it's bad, not at all! It's just...overhyped? Maybe? Don't @ me.
The Unstoppable Rise of Rimuru
Rimuru Tempest. Adorable slime, powerful leader, gets all the cool abilities. It's fun to watch, sure.
But does he *ever* really struggle? He absorbs a few things and BAM! Instant power boost.
It feels like watching someone play a video game on easy mode. Where's the challenge?
Geld's Got Game
Let's talk about Geld, the Orc Disaster (turned Orc Lord). He's one of my favorite character. Big, green, and surprisingly compassionate.
He ate all those dead bodies just to make sure there were no leftover curses. That's dedication!
I think Geld deserves way more love. We need a Geld spin-off, am I right?
The "OP" Problem
This is my biggest issue with Slime. Everyone is just so...overpowered. There's always someone stronger, sure, but Rimuru always catches up.
Where's the tension? Where's the fear?
Remember early Dragon Ball? Goku struggled! He got beaten! That's what made it exciting.
Are the other Characters Useful?
Honestly, besides Geld and maybe a few others, a lot of characters feel like background noise. They're loyal, they're strong-ish, but they mostly just cheer Rimuru on.
I need more character development! Give me some internal conflicts! Show me some flaws!
Everyone is just so perfectly devoted to the benevolent slime king. Little bit sus.
Unpopular Opinion: The Politics are Boring
Okay, deep breath. The political stuff in Slime? Not my cup of tea. It just feels like a distraction from the monster battles.
All the kingdom building and diplomacy...zzz. I'm here for the slime action!
I know, I know, it's important for the world-building. But can't we just skip to the part where Rimuru blasts something with a super powerful magic spell?
Still Fun, Though
Despite my gripes, I still enjoy Slime! It's a fun, lighthearted isekai with cool monsters and a likeable protagonist.
I just think it could be even *better*. A little more struggle, a little more character depth, a little less overpowered-ness.
So, there it is. My slightly controversial Slime thoughts. What do you think? Agree? Disagree? Let me know! Just be nice!
And please, someone write that Geld spin-off!
