Okay, hear me out. I have a controversial opinion about Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
What if...Dolphins?
Everyone focuses on the Basilisk. Giant snake, scary stuff. But what about a more aquatic solution?
Seriously, why didn’t anyone consider dolphins? They’re smart, powerful, and good at finding things.
Dobby's Problem
We all know Dobby was trying to protect Harry. He messed with the bludger. He closed the barrier to Platform 9 3/4.
But imagine if, instead, he'd released a dolphin into the Black Lake. Pure chaos!
Think about it, a confused dolphin is a distraction. Instant diversion.
The Chamber Itself
The Chamber of Secrets is, well, a chamber. Probably damp. Maybe even connected to the lake somehow.
Dolphins are natural swimmers. They could have explored the whole place. Maybe even found the Basilisk’s back entrance!
The Basilisk might have found them tasty but still a worthy distraction for Harry and crew.
Gilderoy's Charm
Gilderoy Lockhart. What a legend. (Just kidding!)
He tried Obliviate. Epic fail. But maybe he could have tried… Dolphin Summoning!
Picture it: Lockhart dramatically pointing his wand. Instead of snakes, a pod of dolphins bursts forth!
Riding the Dolphin
Harry could have ridden a dolphin into battle. Forget Fawkes and the sword. He could have arrive riding echo-locating friend.
Can you imagine the image? Harry, the boy who lived, surfing into the Chamber on a dolphin. Iconic!
Even better, a dolphin could have delivered the Sword of Gryffindor. Underwater delivery service!
The Basilisk's Weakness
Everyone knows you can't look directly at the Basilisk. It will kill you with a glance.
But what if dolphins had some kind of sonar attack? An echolocation blast to disorient the snake.
The Basilisk wouldn’t see that coming. Talk about a plot twist!
Slytherin's Monster?
Okay, maybe a dolphin isn't exactly a fearsome monster. But think of the confusion!
Everyone expects a scary snake. Instead, they get a friendly sea mammal. The element of surprise!
A dolphin isn’t as traditionally ‘Slytherin’ maybe they could be a re-interpretation of the snake.
Why It Makes Sense
Hogwarts is a magical place. Anything can happen. Why not dolphins?
Plus, dolphins are cool. They’re intelligent. They are playful. What’s not to love?
Maybe this is all wishful thinking, but imagine the possibilities!
An Unpopular Opinion?
I know, I know. This is probably a ridiculous idea. But still…
I'm just saying, a little dolphin action could have made Chamber of Secrets even better. You know it's true.
Am I alone in this? Let me know what you think!
Maybe J.K. Rowling will address this in a future interview.
