Okay, let's talk Harukanaru Toki no Naka De. Specifically, Hachiyou Shou. We all know and love the series, right? Ancient Kyoto, romance, destiny… It's got everything!
But... hear me out.
I have a confession. A potentially controversial one. Are you ready? I might… *might* have a favorite Hachiyou. And maybe… *just maybe*… it's not who everyone expects.
Unpopular Opinion Time!
Let’s be real, everyone swoons for Minamoto no Yoritomo. He’s the brooding leader. The responsible one. The kind of guy your parents would approve of.
But, honestly? A little… predictable? Give me the quirky ones! Give me the guys who aren't afraid to be a little bit weird. Where is the fun, the chaos, the unpredictable charm?
And yeah, Abe no Yasuaki is mysterious. He’s got that whole aloof, intellectual vibe going on. And Taira no Katsuzane? Strong, silent type. Got it.
Personally, I've always had a soft spot for Fujiwara no Yukitaka. Some people might say he is too flamboyant. Too theatrical. Too much.
But I say: embrace the extra! He’s got personality. He knows how to make an entrance. He’d never let a conversation get boring. Plus, his fashion sense is… well, let’s just say it’s memorable.
Don't get me wrong; I appreciate a good stoic character. But after saving the world, wouldn't it be nice to celebrate with someone who knows how to throw a *party*? Someone who wouldn't just stand around looking intensely conflicted?
And what about Eisen? Okay, he's a kid. I am NOT going there. But you have to agree, he has potential for being hilarious when he grew older.
Let's Talk Dynamics
The whole "chosen by destiny" thing is cool. But some of the Hachiyou seem a little *too* eager. Like, "Yes, I will dedicate my entire life to protecting you, my queen!"
It's sweet, sure. But where's the challenge? Where's the push and pull? Give me a character who makes the Byakko no Miko work for it a little bit! Someone who questions her decisions. Someone who offers a different perspective.
I mean, the Byakko no Miko is awesome and everything. Saving the world? Amazing. But even goddesses need a good debate partner sometimes.
Maybe Tomomasa is not perfect husband material, but he can be a great rival and friend. The bickering must be entertaining, no?
Don't @ Me!
I know, I know. This is all just personal preference. I’m not saying the popular choices are *bad*. They’re popular for a reason! They're all beautifully drawn. They all have their charms.
But sometimes, I feel like the more understated, or even outright silly, characters get overlooked. They bring a different kind of energy to the story. A kind of energy I personally appreciate.
So, next time you’re replaying Harukanaru Toki no Naka De, maybe take a second look at the guys who aren’t getting all the immediate attention. You might be surprised. You might even find your own "unpopular" favorite.
Or you might completely disagree with me. And that’s okay too! As long as we can all agree that Harukanaru Toki no Naka De is amazing, right? Right?
Just imagine a Hachiyou spin-off series focusing on their daily life: bickering, cleaning, and trying to survive in Heian-Kyo. I would pay for that.
