Okay, Let's Talk JoJolion Length.
So, JoJolion, Part 8 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. We love it. We hate it. We're confused by it. Right?
But the real question is, did it need to be 110 chapters long? That's a lot of reading. A lot of stands. A lot of...Josuke (again!).
My Unpopular Opinion: It Could've Been Shorter.
Hear me out! I love Araki. He's a genius. But even geniuses can sometimes...wander a bit.
Did we really need every single side plot? Every single new rock human? My brain was starting to feel like a rock.
Some fans argue that every chapter was essential. That it all built to a magnificent climax. I respect that opinion.
The "Less is More" Argument
But I'm team "less is more." Imagine a tighter, more focused JoJolion. Think laser beam, not a garden hose.
Cut out some of the fluff. Streamline the plot. Bam! Masterpiece (even more than it already is, arguably).
Think of all the time we would have saved. We could have reread Steel Ball Run twice!
Specific Examples? You Asked For It.
Okay, okay. You want specifics? Fine! Remember the ambulance arc? It was fun, sure.
But was it crucial? Did it drastically impact the ending? I'm not so sure.
And some of the Rock Human introductions felt…expendable. Cool designs, but not always necessary for the overall narrative.
But Wait! A Defense of JoJolion's Length
Of course, there's the counter-argument. JoJolion is about atmosphere and world-building.
The slower pace allows us to really sink into Morioh. To feel the weight of the curse. To understand Josuke's amnesia.
Those details matter. They add depth and complexity. It creates a truly unique experience.
Maybe It's a Matter of Taste?
Ultimately, it probably boils down to personal preference. Some people love long, sprawling stories. Others prefer a more concise approach.
I tend to lean towards the latter. But I still enjoyed JoJolion. Don't get me wrong!
Maybe I just have a shorter attention span than a goldfish...who knows?
So, How Many Chapters *Should* It Have Been?
If I had to pick a number? I'd say somewhere between 80 and 90. That's just my gut feeling.
Enough to tell the story. But not so much that I start questioning my life choices.
But hey, what do I know? I'm just a fan with an opinion. Feel free to disagree!
Let's Be Honest, We'd Read It Anyway.
No matter how many chapters JoJolion had, we would have devoured it. We're JoJo fans. It's in our blood.
We're addicted to the bizarre. The stylish. The absolutely ridiculous.
So, thank you Araki. For giving us another amazing (and lengthy) adventure. Even if it made my bookshelf cry.
In conclusion: fewer chapters? Maybe. Still awesome? Definitely.
