Okay, let’s talk SK8 the Infinity. You’re probably wondering: How many episodes are there? The answer is twelve. But…is that enough?
The Obvious Answer (and Why It’s Annoying)
Yes, technically, there are twelve episodes. We all know that. The internet confirms it. My anime-loving neighbor confirms it.
But sometimes, technicalities are the enemy of joy. Twelve episodes just feels…cruel.
Twelve? Seriously?
I know, I know, I sound dramatic. But think about it! We got amazing characters like Reki and Langa. We got cool skating tricks. And we got beef! So little beef, though!
The friendships, the rivalries… everything was just getting started. Then BAM! It was over. Like a perfectly ollied skateboard suddenly hitting a pebble.
My Unpopular Opinion: Twelve Is NOT Enough
Hear me out. I think SK8 the Infinity could have easily, EASILY, gone on for another season. Maybe even two!
Imagine more character development. Imagine more ridiculous skating challenges. Imagine more Adam being extra (we love to hate him, right?).
We could have explored different skating styles. Maybe introduced new rivalries. Let’s face it: the possibilities were endless.
What Could Have Been
Think of all the potential storylines! Reki grappling with his own skating insecurities. Langa discovering new aspects of his personality outside of skating.
And let’s not forget the side characters! Miya, Shadow, Cherry Blossom and Joe. They deserve more screen time! They all had so much comedic potential.
I’m not saying the existing twelve episodes were bad. Far from it! They were amazing. That's the problem! They left me wanting more! Is that so wrong?
The Second Season Hype (Is It Real?)
Of course, there's always talk of a second season. The anime gods have heard our prayers, perhaps. Whispers and rumors abound.
But until it's officially announced, I remain cautiously optimistic. My heart has been broken by anime cancellations before. I have seen things.
Still, I cling to hope. Maybe, just maybe, we'll get more SK8 the Infinity. Maybe we'll finally get the episode count we deserve.
In the Meantime…
So, for now, we rewatch the existing twelve episodes. We buy the merchandise. We write fanfiction. We keep the dream alive.
Because even though twelve episodes feel like a tease, they're twelve amazing episodes. And that's something, right?
Plus, who knows? Maybe if we collectively scream loud enough, the anime gods will grant us a second season. A skater can dream.
Let’s be real: we all just want more Langa and Reki bonding over skating, right?
So, while the official answer is twelve, my heart says it should be…infinity. Or at least, like, twenty-four.
