Okay, let's talk Spy x Family. Specifically, how many episodes are we gonna get? This is the question that keeps me up at night. Maybe I'm being dramatic, but probably not.
The Great Episode Guessing Game
Right now, we know about the initial cours and planned seasons. But what about beyond that? Will we get a Spy x Family that goes on forever? Like, a never-ending buffet of espionage and adorable found-family antics? I have thoughts.
Some people think it'll mirror shows like Naruto or One Piece. Hundreds of episodes, sprawling storylines. I admire their optimism. But I secretly hope they're wrong (hear me out!).
My (Possibly Unpopular) Opinion
I think Spy x Family should have a *finite* number of episodes. There, I said it. Don't get me wrong, I love the Forgers. But even the best things can overstay their welcome, right?
Think about it. A tight, well-paced story. A satisfying conclusion. Wouldn't that be amazing? Imagine a perfectly crafted ending, leaving us wanting more, but content.
Instead of dragging on, let's see the main story arcs get wrapped up nicely. Operation Strix needs a conclusion, Loid needs to find peace, and Anya... well, Anya needs all the peanuts. And a dog. She already has one. Make that more dogs! (I'm getting side-tracked).
The Ideal Episode Count
So, what's the magic number? I'm thinking somewhere between 50 and 75 episodes. This feels like enough time to explore the characters. Also enough time to develop the plot. But not too much to feel diluted.
Plus, a shorter run leaves room for OVAs and movies! We could get extra doses of Forger family fluff without bloating the main storyline. More Yor action sequences? Yes, please!
Imagine a series of films exploring individual character backstories. Or maybe standalone missions that don't directly impact Operation Strix. The possibilities are endless!
Quality over Quantity (Always!)
Ultimately, I'd rather have a concise, brilliantly executed story than a sprawling, meandering one. Give me peak Spy x Family. Every. Single. Episode.
Let the writers and animators focus on crafting a memorable experience. Instead of rushing through plot points to fill time. This show has the potential to be legendary!
And let's be honest, Anya's telepathic shenanigans are best in small doses. Too much mind-reading and even Anya might get a little tiring (blasphemy, I know!).
What the Future Holds
Of course, this is all just speculation. We can only wait and see what the creators have in store for us. Maybe they'll give us 300 episodes. Maybe they'll stop at 50.
Regardless, I'm along for the ride. As long as there are peanuts, spy gadgets, and awkward family dinners, I'm happy.
So, what do you think? Am I crazy for wanting a shorter run? Or do you agree that less can be more? Sound off in the comments! (If there were comments!). Maybe even Loid is reading this and taking notes!
