Okay, let's talk Prison Break. A show about brothers, tattoos, and escaping from… well, prisons.
But here's the big question that's probably been bugging you: How many seasons are there really?
The "Official" Number: Five Seasons
Officially, Prison Break has five seasons. That's what Fox says. That's what Wikipedia says. Everyone agrees, right?
But... Is That REALLY True?
Here's where my (possibly) unpopular opinion comes in. I'm here to stir the pot a little.
I say there are only four seasons. And I'm sticking to it!
Why Four? Let Me Explain!
Season five felt... different. It felt like a completely separate show. Remember when Michael Scofield supposedly died?
And then BOOM! He's alive! In Yemen! Plotting another escape!
Don't get me wrong, I watched it. I even enjoyed parts of it. But it wasn't the same.
The original four seasons had a cohesive story arc. It was about Lincoln trying to save Michael. Then Michael getting everyone out of Fox River. Then running from The Company. It was brilliant!
Season five? It felt like fan fiction. Good fan fiction, maybe. But fan fiction nonetheless.
The characters acted differently. The plot was overly complicated. It lacked the charm of the original run.
"It was like they tried to cram three seasons worth of plot into nine episodes."
The writing just wasn't as sharp. The twists felt forced. And don't even get me started on the villain!
Let's Talk About the Ending (Spoilers!)
The ending of season four felt like a real ending. Michael sacrificed himself for his family. Tragic, yes, but also beautiful.
The show gave us closure. Then season five comes along and undoes all of that.
It cheapened the impact of the original ending, in my humble opinion. So, that's why I choose to believe it does not exist.
Am I Alone In This?
Maybe I'm being dramatic. Maybe I'm being nostalgic. Maybe I just miss the good old days of Prison Break.
But I can't be the only one who feels this way, right? Someone out there must agree with me.
Think about it: The core story ended in season four. Everything after that is extra credit. Nice to have, but not essential.
My Verdict: Four Seasons (In My Heart)
So, there you have it. My take on the Prison Break season count.
Officially, five. But in my heart, there are only four glorious, tightly-plotted seasons.
Feel free to disagree with me. But I'm standing my ground!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go re-watch season one. Pure, unadulterated Prison Break goodness!
And maybe, just maybe, pretend that season five never happened. Don't @ me!
Let's keep it our little secret, shall we?
